When I'm in Nibelheim at the Shinra mansion, where Cloud thinks that the city should've burnt down, I go into the basement to the studyroom. When he is there Cloud himself and the other walk further into the studyroom and I get kicked out of the game.

Why is that?

Is it nescesary to walk here, otherwise I'll just don't go here anymore.

Yes, its a story evolving scene so you have to view it.
That is if its the scene i think it is....

I don't know why it does it tho... system specs, game version and mods/patches installed would be helpfull...
Try running the game in software mode also

I have winME, gameversion 1.00 and no mods and patches installed.

Darkdevil: You know we have [ spoiler ] and [ /spoiler ] tags?

Anyway, IIRC, you don't need to go down there if you're not in the flashback. Later in the game, there's an optional flashback you can view down there.

That's not a common crash, this is the first I've heard of it. If I were to guess, I'd say it's a bad disk. I can't remember if a movie plays there or not.....if one does, that AVI file is probably corrupt.

Out of curiousity - Did you do a full install when you installed the game? If not, why don't you try it... it installs all of the field files to your hard drive. If that field file is bad on the CD, maybe the one on the install disc isn't bad so it'll work after a full install.

I did a minimal install and when i try to play the videos from disc 1, almost all can't open (be recognized by a videoplayer)

ePSXe is a playstation emulator for the PC. It plays almost all the PS1 games outhere, but requires a bit of tweaking on your part. It's basicly free, but you have to find a playstaion bios, on your own.

Just do a search for it on yahoo....if your interested.....it's a whole lot less trouble just buying a PS2 or PS1, though.

Anyway....your confusing me with the videoplayer part. Min. install and full install have nothing to do with being able to see movies on a third party videoplayer (such as windows' mediaplayer). I don't think the install method has anything to do with the movies, at all....the moves are played off the CD-rom regardless of what install method you choose.

That's why I'm confused with that last post.

The codecs for the video's of FF7, are in the install disk. In autoplay menu, one of the options says something like install mediaplayer....that's the installation of the codecs. Or you can just install the upsidedown patch, that has the codecs, too. Those codecs should allow Windows mediaplayer to play the avi files in the disk....but you will see spoilers if you do.

aaron was talking about doing a full install, that way I might be able to see the movie, if the movie on disc 1 is corrupt.

I was checking if I could see the movies from disc 1, but I couldn't.
I'll try that upside down patch, although the movie is not played upside down; I get kicked out of the game.

There's no movie at that point in the game, so most of this discussion is pointles...

However, having done a minimum install, that means that the field info (ie, the maps) are read off the disk, and your disk 1 probably has a scratch or smudge on it. Go back and do a full install: everything BUT the movies will be installed, and its technically the ONLY way to go, especially if your cd drive is crap.

Yeah, it might allow the field file to load, but doesn't have anything to do with the movies.

If the movies don't play in Windows Media Player, try installing this (the movie patch) and try again.

i tried the install menu movie player, and i can see the movies ..
but i still get kicked out when i'm there

u can get destruct there, i heard, is there any other place u can get that?

nope....going there is part of the storyline. And that is not a common crash, so it has to be a bad disk.

Track down Redleggs or Gray Mouser at Eidos, maybe they can give info about replacement disks....if Eidos still has any, that is. If you go into the members button on the main forum page, you can find their Private messaging link. Or you can find a post by one of them...and go into their profile page. (that's probably the easiest way...they have announcement posts here and there)

But, I'm sure it ain't going to be free....though. You might want to offer your save game to someone, and have them play through.....I may be able to, but I haven't tried running FF7 in a while...and I just upgraded a key component on my PC. Oh well, I'm sure I could get Software mode running, if anything, without too much hassle.

Do any of your disks have any marks? or anything. It'd suck if you paid out that money...if they ask for it...and it not fix the problem.
