Ok... I may not be the first one to come up with this idea.. But..
Let this be the topic for Advent Children. Everything AC would be discussed here - one thread for all the AC stuff, not to share it into tiny little topics... As for games -- BC, and The Compilation Project please head to this topic.. How about it?

About dying of this topic. No such thing until the movie is released. There is going to be a constant flow of infromation and news, but not everyday.. So even if nobody is posting for weeks, and all off the sudden something new comes up - please post it here. Nothing will happen, even though no one posted here for a long time. It will spare a lot of searching on the forums, and might clean it up a little bit. Square didn't release everything at once just for us to discuss, so don't worry to write a post even if it's late..

Advent Children basics - taken from adventchlidren.net --

"Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is the much anticipated sequel to Square's top selling game Final Fantasy VII. The sequel however will not be in the form of a game [like Final Fantasy X-2], but instead as a CG movie.

The movie will run for somewhere between 70 and 80 minutes and will be released on DVD and UMD [for the Sony PSP]. It will feature a total of 20 characters, including the popular Cloud and Sephiroth, and is being developed by Square-Enix in conjunction with Visual Works.

It is expected to be released in Japan at the end of 2004, with a US release to follow shortly after [first quarter of 2005]. No word on a European or Australian release has been made as yet.

FF7AC at the Venice Film Festival
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Advent Children will be screened at the 61st Venice International Film Festival that will be held this year from September 1-11. Advent Children will be entered in the category "Venezia Digitale" (Venice Digital), which is a new addition to the Festival for this year. However, as a result of the unfinished state of the movie, Advent Children will not be judged as a competition entry, but will make an appearance as a guest screening.
Films at the Festival are usually entered by submission, and the issuing of an invitation to screen an unfinished movie is unprecedented. However, the quality of CG in Advent Children was judged to be particularly high, and thus in response to this honour, Square Enix will formally release a special edition of Advent Children at the Festival.
The film will be presented in Japanese, with Italian subtitles, as in accordance with the rules of the Film Festival. Screenings are open to the public.
Seeing as this is an important film festival that attracts worldwide attention, the inclusion of FF7AC is an exciting development for Square Enix, and is sure to generate more attention towards the film in the time to come.

Guided by the new omens of war, the former allies who fought together gather to meet again. Two years have passed, and each person's standing point has changed, but Cloud has only one objective. To protect those that he loves. To defend that what he believes in. And again, those allies advance to the battlefield...

The scene where Cloud holds the fallen Tifa in his arms.

For the first time in long time, Cloud and Tifa meet again in that church of memories. But Cloud is too late and arrives only to see the form of the fallen Tifa. Cloud scans the vicinity while holding Tifa. It doesn't seem like there is anyone else there except for him and Tifa, but... Is this the aftermath of Tifa's fight with the mysterious young man, Loz... ?

STORY CHECK

Marlene and Tifa promised to meet Cloud again at this place, but the absence of Marlene on Cloud's arrival is worrying. Is the one that Loz is chasing really Marlene?

Cloud's fight with Kadaj in the illusionistic forest. Is he pointing at Cloud as he says, "You're a traitor!" ... ?

Attack of that mysterious creature.
The former allies return to battle with the mass of creatures who have attacked the town. It seems like the mysterious youths are not the only enemies that Cloud and his friends face. The only thing that is clear is that the creatures bear a hostility towards humans. Are they related to the Geo Stigma disease that is sweeping the planet?

The reunion of the former allies.
Tifa, Cid, Vincent and the rest. These allies are meeting again in this town at the scene which causes them all to have premonitions of the start of a big war. Are they there because someone called them, or because they are investigating Cloud's situation? No matter the reason, they all seem to have gathered with the same objective in mind. That objective is unknown...

Hey, remember, she's older then many people think.

In the game she definaetly didn't look her age. In the movie she looks quite mature. And IMHO way much better. Both in clothing as looks...

Tifa was 20, Cloud 21, Aeris 22.

I don't think anyone here has seen it, but there are a load of trailers, screencaps and translations from Japanese magazines around. It's coming out in the US so even if it doesn't come to the UK, which is unlikely, you could always get it imported.

The Advent Children movie is coming along nicely. Hope this story comes out as good as the orginal FF7!

I might see it when I see it gets good reviews. Seems better graphic-wise compared to Spirits Within and seems to be getting more media talking about it. Due to the new merger with Enix or the fact that people want to see a FF movie with a story? The world may never know...

Cait Sith is still a no show it seems...I'd love to see an updated version of it. And the fact that people are so hyped up about FF7:AC and not about the Spirits Within is because its an actual FF with actual FF characters. Same thing with the Resident Evil movie. Alot of people didnt like it because there wernt any of the memorable heros from the games.

Puh-leeze, the Halkunator is so much better than the old one. The only thing I'd really have to add is the fact that the sunglasses are SLIGHTLY off a little bit. I little shift to the right and it'd be perfect I think.
