Ideas for Controlling Sephiroth
« on: 2004-09-26 21:20:17 »
Well im new to these boards.  Im not expert in anything but i got a few hunchs.

                                           What We know
So we can't control Sephiroth in battle. Why not? Well his programming allows him to do moves to what it thinks is the fastest way to end the battle.

If he dies And you revive him you can use him in the current battle.

next battle you cannot control him.

The sephiroth patchs that are currently available are bootleg and about 80% complete.

What I would like to know...

How can i get a 100% complete sephiroth patch?

Does anyone still have the save game file that has The masamume equiped so you get the same kickass noise when you use normal attack.

My aim is Plexor4

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

I too would like to know if there is a 100% patch. Though I think someone on these boards mentioned something about a TNT Sephiroth patch or something like that. don't know what that is though....
anyway, welcome to the boards. i'm sorta new myself. This is a great place for help.

I was told by a friend a while back, that somone on a messageboard managed to figure out a way to swap the weapon data modals around.

IE, normal cloud, but with sephi's masamune.

I head it was done with other wapons too, but didnt turn out *quite* so good....

I found a way for PlaySTation American Version to make a fully functional Sephiroth

and even use his sword so you get the badass noises

Now this page contains the game shark coding required to Swap Replace Vincent with Sephiroth

So basicly your Vincent is Sephiroth and uses Vincent's limits!

Make sure to enter these codes in the exact order they appear, and in
sets of 12 so they don't glitch the game, otherwise, they will not
work! I haven't tested these on any other GameShark, so I can't verify
that they'll work on any other ones.

What this code does: Sephiroth completely replaces Vincent, you can
Control Sephiroth in battle, Sephiroth equips Vincent's equipment, but
the guns act as swords, Enable Masamune (Sephiroth's final weapon) to
be bought in Wall Market at retail price, Sephiroth's Limit Break box
won't be screwed up in battle, Sephiroth has Level 2 Limit Break after
80 kills, Sephiroth has Level 2 & 3 Limit Breaks after 140 kills,
Sephiroth has all Limit Breaks After 180 kills, Sephiroth's Limit Bar
builds in battle, Sephiroth's Limit Level 1 in battle: Your missing HP
total dealt to each enemy, Sephiroth's Limit Level 2 in battle: Your HP
total dealt to each enemy, Sephiroth's Limit Level 3 in battle: Brings
all enemies to 1 HP (does up to 9999 damage), Sephiroth's Limit Level 4
in battle: Brings all enemies to 0 HP (does up to 9999 damage). There
are a few graphic glitches as there are only so many sprites drawn in
the game for Sephiroth. Sephiroth's picture will be on the menu screen,
if his picture is distorted, just click on PHS, then exit & he'll be
fine, when starting a saved file, if you get the "File is ruined" error
(you shouldn't if you use the same codes you left off with), just turn
off the codes and turn them on again after loading the quest. You can
have multiple Sephiroths, but it seems unrealistic. His Limit Breaks
are very cool, but his limit bar will not carry over from one battle to
another. All you have to do, is rename him Sephiroth (if you want to),
but be forewarned that the text is a little odd when you first get
Vincent. TURN OFF THESE CODES IN THE SEPHIROTH/CLOUD FLASHBACK!

Now Can we do this for PC?
Is thier a gameshark style program fro PC?

May I just ask....Who in their right MIND would input  9 paragraphs of code...to play as sephiroth?  I mean sure, Im as much of a Sephi fanboy as the next man...but imo, thats TOO much work...its all very well thinking using codes like that would work for a PC version (example, "CodeBreaker") but Im pretty sure that using those codes on a PC version will either not work, or  wont even be accepted by the code program...im guessing that latter as the data seems to be stored in a very different way.

Also, With the gameshark, are the codes you put INTO the frontend memory adresses , and the say, the line below it, the editided value?  I've always been curious as to how it worked...I always thought it modifyed the data valuesin the systems memory permanantly, untill you reset the console or something....

hmm... I distinctly remember on the PSX version, being able to play/control sephy (with the help of 1 simple "Sephiroth in Party" code with GS...)... What I dont get though is why that sephy isnt in the PC version...

there were 2 sephy's, same as there was 2 clouds... Young Cloud, and Adult Cloud, and Berserk Sephy, and Controllable Sephy... I'm not sure if Controllable sephy was in the later versions of FFVII though... but still.. controllable sephy would be good...

Hmm... After my brothers friend had found the debug room (Czar Dragon, old AngoFugo co-webmaster, friend of Magicslayer- my bro :P), I had looked for at least some way to get him in the party as being controllable, but I realized, it was removed from the releases after the initial release of FFVII :\...

Anyways, lol sorry for rambling on :P

Cant we just make a sephiroth patch the same way the high-res cloud patch was made?  You know, just re-name and relocate files?  Include a Save at the begginign which starts you off with higer levels and your name as "Sephiroth"?  I recall taht he original sephy aptch also re-arranged all mentions of "Cloud" and "Sephiroth", so, we know that can be done, too.

Yeah, he'd hold his sword funky, but cant the filename for the animation data just be renamed and applied to "cloud" as well?

And then do similar changes for the field model?

of course, then there's the "world map" issue, but that shouldn't be too hard to overcome, either.

not that I'm condoning this idea, it's entirely stupid.  However, i'm just saying it would be simpler than everyone thinks unless i'm missing something.

well, theres already a patch to play as sephy instead of cloud, and you kill cloud instead of sephy...

however, I think it would be much more fun if someone could hack into the game, add another playable character (that isnt normally obtainable) possibly by copying a current characters data, reallocate all meshes, equipment, ect data accordingly for the character, and work from there.

Eh, topic activity's only a month old. I'll bite. I've had an (unproven) hunch for awhile that there's a 1-byte value somewhere in memory that controls whether computer Sephiroth is a playable character or computer-controlled. Find it it, flip the value, and you've got your playable Sephiroth with just  some memory hacking. Of course, there's a billion 1-byte values, and I'm not good at memory hacking. I've tried, obviously without success.

Why?Why?Why?

Why does everyone want Sephiroth so bad to be in their party?? It's not meant to be, it totally screws up the plot of the game and above all, he loses his style!! (I have posted this some time ago, in another one of the forums).

But well, if you really want it, than I'm sure someone comes up with a patch.

O, and by the way: No offence to anyone!

Greetz,

EW.

Interesting question. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me the answer is, "Because I can."

Apparently the characters weren't supposed to have hands whenever they were in town, either. =/ The hand patch isn't *that* fun, but I've ended up liking it better.

Anyway, I guess you could boil it down to a lot of things. I can think of two big ones: first there's hobbyists like me who do things for unjustifiable reasons. Second, there's people who think Sephiroth is a really cool character. Neither of which you can really argue with very successfully--both types of people can't be reasoned with. I guess the Nibelheim flashback could be considered a teaser with no payoff or something. We get to sort-of have Sephiroth as a playable character for a few minutes, and it turns us into whiny children. "Give me Sephiroth!" Who knows. Regardless, I'll keep pursuing the Siren's call for now.

Well, the plot is mostly fixable with slight dialogue alteration (like with the original Sephiroth patch.) You're definately changing it, but it's not like this is the first time anyone has taken liberties with FF7 (Dirge of Cerberus or FF7 Handheld, anyone?) You're pretty much right about Sephiroth losing style points (cursed item: "-1 Patch") but the same can usually be said of *any* major game alteration such as cheat codes--they all tend to subtract a little luster from the game.
However, in another sense, try comparing this to being Darth Vader. There's a lot of cool factor/fan boyism involved. Enough so, I would argue, that it adds to their style in a different sense, even as it takes away.
