I am having the same crash as the windows are supposed to open to show the first view of meteor. I tried to copy all the movies onto my harddrive and change the regkey and now i cant see any of the movies including the opening square video.  I tried changing the key back to my cd drive and the movies are still not working.  I deleted the key hoping that the game would reinstate the key which it did not so now i dont have the key at all :( does anyone know what the key should be set to as default and the name of the key? and is there a fix for this movie crash? i thaught i was lucky after reading about everyoen having cosmo canyon crashes and what not because i got threw all that with no problem and then had this happen :( my specs are

ff7 1.02 patch
chocorace patch
amd64 2800+
x800 pro with 4.8 catalyst

thanks 2 anyone who can help me or takes the time to read this.

Reinstalling the game from the install CD should fix the registry.
See if your movies work after that (installing the upside-down movie patch won't hurt) and if you still have the problem, you can either make another attempt to use the movies from your hard drive or just post the save to someone to pass for you.

i will try to reinstall but if someone knows the original regkey that woudl be really helpful. i will wait over the weekend until i reinstall incase someone posts the regkey or another fix. i dont have the upside down movie patch but i think one of my codecs i installed seperatly fixed that anyway..
