Hi I was just wondering if you can play the Final Fantasy XI offline,or if you have to play the game online...I mean cant you play by yourself?

Online only, Hence why you have to pay each month.

Then theres the fact you couldnt do many missions without a PT or linkshell

No offline mode. You can't even start the game without an online connection

The game would be completely useless and frustrating alone. Parties are a necessity from early on in the game at level 10+.

A single player mode would suck. Trust me on this.

all above are wrong, to play, you must 1) buy some gas, you can find this by a) going to gas station or b) siphon out ot the car outside
2) get a match
3)pour gas on yourself, game, and everything you hold dear to you life
4)kill soemone so you go to hell
5) light yourself on fire and accept this as punishment fort even thinking about playing ffxi

I haven't played FFXI yet, but from personal experience; MMORPGS are the biggest waste of life known to man.

I used to think that too, until I started playing Phantasy Star Online for Xbox. Of course, playing through the same 4 levels on different difficuilties got tiring after a while, and as my first true MMORPG (I wouldnt count PSO as an RPG really, discarding its faint level build up system), its really fun, and its not that cheesy with mythical dragons and potions. Theres a faint storyline, but it does fit in there.

Hear this for an addiction.

For 6 months I did nothing but get up at 9 AM, play the game until lunch, stop for a 15 min break, then play until 2 ~ 7 AM.

This is how addicted I get ...

But, everything is back to normal now ...
You can only have so many lvl 99 characters ...

I know what you mean. FFXI has ruined my sleeping pattern twice. It really sucked when school came around, I was going to sleep at 6 and 7 and waking up at 2 P.M.

Not good.

Not good.

My alarm clock always got me up at 9, it was then followed by 3 cups of coffee at 9:15, then another 3 at noon.

I havent played it.. I want to.. I like MMORPGs even though they eat your life.. I just cant let one eat my life right now.. And I wont pay unless i'm playing the game like a fiend..

I have heard great things about it though..
