Weird Timer issue between hardware and software rendering

Hi all Ok, I've notcied a strange issue with the ingame timers (both menu and danger timers). When running the game in software the ingame timer ticks once every two seconds, so one second of ingame time == two seconds of real time. But in hardware mode, it ticks at the correct speed. Just wondered if anyone else has noticed this? I've read through the various FAQ's and topics here, but didn't notice anything relating to this.

It's not a real problem of course, because it works to my advantage Such as the first reactor mission, where the 10 minutes actually works out to 20 minutes in software, and gives me enough time to get Cloud and Barret's second level 1 limit breaks. I'd be interested to know why this is though, especially since the game runs normally, not at half speed or anything.

Unless you're using a low-end processor, I don't see why there sould be too much slowdown =/

Well, it's not slowdown as such (I have an XP3200+ 2.2Ghz processor ), as the timer literally counts at one second of game time for every two seconds of real time. The game itself still runs at the normal speed; quite weird really.

When FF7PC was first released, people who were forced to run it in software mode would have had really, really bad performance. Some of us probably have stories about this.

I've never noticed that before, but maybe this is a little handicap for them?  (The timer still runs at constant speed even if the game is running really, really slow.)

I dunno... when I first bought the game I had a P233 with a TNT2 graphics card and no internet connection, so I had to run in software mode. Bar running a bit slow, the game and timer were both fine. It was only when I first built my own pc (XP1800+ 1.53Ghz with a ti4400 graphics card) that I first noticed the timer issue. Ever since then, and after numeous upgrades, it's been doing this. I can capture an .avi of it if you want to see it.  As I said though, it's not a problem because I normally run in Hardware now anyway

edit: Hmm, ok, maybe a video is out of the question. Just tried capturing a fight sequence with fraps and it doesn't seem to want to capture any faster than 8FPS, which is pretty useless; everything ends up looking too slow, so you can't really see how slowy the timer is counting. Of course, capturing in hardware mode would work fine, if it wasn't for the fact that hardware mode works fine and doesn't have this timer issue I can still upload the compressed .avi anyway though if anyone wanted to check it out.

I want to check myself to see if the wierd timer thing happens on my computer, or if its just some kind of problem specific to you... I'll do it sometime when I get around to it.
