weapon model and lightwave...

ok, first off, i'm a newbie when it comes to 3d modeling (i've used 3ds max and Cinema4d in the past, not that much tho)... but i learn fast and have taught myself how to get around lightwave lastnight/early morning...

anyway, i have the battle model of vincent...

http://www.pwolfamv.com/vincent_model_test.jpg (slight texture problem with the mouth... it's fixed now.)

but he needs a weapon... i am able to import a weapon model and place it where it needs to be, but i need to be able to move the hand around and have the gun move with it...

so i guess i'm trying to figure out is how can i group or combine the weapon model with the hand?

If you're wanting to make animations, I'd probably guess you use bones and assign the vertices to different bones. Then you just rotate the bones and everything assigned to that bone (and connected to other bones connected to that, and others to that, and to that....) move........ but that's just a guess since I can't remember the last time I even opened lightwave....
