yeah best bet is making sure your not in Software mod and such

Your mates might of looked better for a few reasons also, the main one being, does he have a small screen then you? Running at 640x480 on a 19 inch screen won't do it justice, its like zooming right in on a picture, you always get pixelated

Wheres on a small screen, say 15" it'll look much better. I've got a old 15" screen running on my old p3 machine and the game looks about 50% better on that screen then it does on my 19" screen

If you have the playstation version you can play on his pc using an emulator and you could probably have it looking much better. PS Emulators can play from the cd drive so that's pretty convenient though you may want to get it on your hd for better performance.

What do you mean? nativaly or ingame with a ps emulator.

Using a ps emulator you can run it in any resolution and colour depth supported plus other ehancement features of video and sound plugins. ePSXE is a good one to use which has a plugin system meaning you have a fair variety in what you use for video/sound/cd-rom loading if needed and controller plugins.

the game actually only runs in 1 resolution, thats the problem, with larger screens you should have a higher resolution. But low reso on a big screen isn't good

though with emulators are different

the basic rundown is that radeon users will experience crappy 2D images and text windows/boxes while the 3D stuff will look good.

if you installed the 1.02 patch, you can turn on NVIDIA and check TNT on the ff7config in the lower corner, and if you turn on Anti Aliasing to whichever mode you want, you can get back in game with real good 3D (battles, character models) but everything else will look messed up.

if you have some older video cards around.. you might want to try one of those instead (geforce 2/3/4, voodoo 2/3/4 etc)
