Problem with : ff7betap1.exe
« on: 2005-02-25 14:33:50 »
ok, first of all scuse me for my english I only speak french...

I installed FF7 yesterday on my computer... I started it and I got the Black screen on startup bug...

I looked if I was able to play the avi files with my windows media players and I can't...

so I installed ff7betap1.exe... and I still can't play the movie, and I have the same problem when I start the game...

I think my problem is that ff7betap1.exe was installed incorrectly and I need to remove it and install it again... How can I do that... If I click on the setup files, it's said: failed to open setup...

I redownloaded it, and the same problem happen...

I've also installed this patch ff7102zx.zip...
I have windows XP service pack 2

please help me!

Hmm..

On the ff7 install disk is "setup".  It looks like the ff7 icon.  Double-click it as if you were going to install the game.

Click "Install movie player".  See if that does anything.

Also, you may have to uninstall several other video codecs to get the duck codec (which ff7 uses) working.

I've tried that, I've also unnistall all codec I have and I still can't play ff7 movies...

when I try to read a ff7 movie with my media players, it said that :
The Reader Windows Media met an unknown error.  That can occur when another program or a component of the operating system encounters a problem of which it does not indicate nature to the reader.
