Debug Room

It's known that the FF7 PC version's debug room has no background to it which makes it hard to navigate, so I was wondering if it would be possible to extract the background from the PSX version? Or are they stored in a different format?

The background in the psx is the same black nothingness, anyway =)

And they're different formats, unfortunatly.  Different names in some cases, so you'd ahve to go through them ALL to find the one you want, also.  I tried porting some over, but had no success.

How do you access the debug room in FF7 PC?

For people who don't know how to access the debug room in the PSX version:

I remember you had to add a gameshark code to PEC on ePSXe for the PSX version of Final Fantasy VII:

Japanese Release
800987F4 0041

American Release
8009A05C 0041 (original code)
8009ABF6 0041 (improved code)

United Kingdom PAL
80099F2C 0041

French PAL
8009A174 0041

You can use Jenova to set a save location to the debug room...

I entered this room thru jenova and I can't understand half the things the characters say(weird languages) and can't find anything...useful. What's the real purpose of this room?

I think the purpose of the room room was simply to test different parts of the game. It allowed testers to try different options and skip to desired parts of the game

Are there special features or tasks to unlock in there? Plus they could have included a backround 'cause it's a bit tough to navigate even with the cursor.
By the way does anybody know where I can download lgp tools ? I downloaded it from some place but when I clicked lgptools.exe it said ficedula.dll was missing. I'm a bit new and I think it is necessary to install the battle-->field conversion patch, right?

You must get that file from Ficedula's site:
http://ficedula.cjb.net/
And that's right, you need the program to install the patch.

Ha ha, you weren't even supposed to see the debug room...  It is just for testing the game, meant to be convenient for the developers, not for us.

Not entirely true, I'm assuming he's speaking of the main debug room. The floor of which has  the final fantasy 7 logo, and a circle of Kanji. Each of the Kanji is a link to a different room. If I remember correctly, some of the arrows in that room don't quite line up right to the links, so being able to see the kanji would make travel quite a bit easier.
