Final Fantasy VII Fighting Game
« on: 2005-07-14 16:14:54 »
I remember, when I went to the arcade around 6 years ago, there was a fighting game with FF7 characters, such as Cloud with his sword on his back, and Tifa, and I think other FF7 characters. I didn't have a chance to play it though because we were going when I saw it. My question is, has anyone ever heard of this game, or played it, if so what is the game called?

I'm not 100% sure, but if I remember correctly it was named "Ehrgeiz"...

Yep, that's the one, Ehrgeiz, thanks a lot Alhexx :) I saw screenshots of them in google images and it looks exactly how I remembered it to be ;)

I just found out there's a playstation version as well, is it any good to be worth buying?

It only came out on the PS1 afaik.

When I played the demo, it all felt VERY clunky... Like tekken1, but slower.

Well, it has Cloud, Cloud in MP uniform, Tifa, Tifa in cowgirl outfit, Vinvent, Turks Vincent, Yuffie, Sephiroth, and Zack.  that's quite a bit of ff7-madness there in an otherwise unremarkable game.

BTW, ther WAS an arcade version, BUT it was WITHOUT the ff7 characters.  I heard it sucked =P

I didnt know that :)

But to be honest, its main selling point WAS the use of FFVII Characters.

Im guessing it phailed pretty badly?

I'm pretty sure the arcade version did have (at least) some of the FF7 characters... I remember playing it in the arcade a few years ago -- in 2001, I think.

i saw it (the ARC version) in the local Gameworks 6 months back or so, i was suprised as hell. i didn't get a chance to play it, but i think the demo had cloud in it.

i also rented it 3 or 4 years ago.

as a fighting game, it was very average, and the graphics were pretty poor even for that time. there was an rpg mode, but it wasn't very good either. the only redeeming factor was the FF7 characters.

I actually kinda liked the game. Although, I don't remember Tifa or Vincent being in it.. I definately remember Cloud, Zack, and Seph.

I played the playstation version. I mainly bought it coz i saw the screenshot of cloud vs sephy... The game really wasn't a good fighting game in terms of combo and individual fighting style. Heck, every damn fighter moves almost the same. The mini games are a disaster, very short and repetitive. The graphics are horrible (even for the old ps days). Also, personally; I hated the start screen because there was a japanese-trying-to-sound-american taunt of "EHRGEIZ!!!" . Come to think about it, there was really bad taunts throughout the game.  Hehehe...

Yeah, I agree with you Hay. Doesn't matter if the game sucked- as long as it has FF7 characters in it. This was what influenced me to buy games like Chocobo Dungeon and Racing.

hell yeah, that's ultimate truth :D
Other characters wasn't bad but still I played much often ff7 chars. It's fun to play as cloud or sephy, run, jump, kick ass, take out sword and then make some crazy moves ;]
Too bad I wasn't able to perform Omnislash :(
