Hi, I'm completely new here, but I was searching through some old games I had and found my FF8 disks and decided to go through it again. So, I popped the install disk in, set up the game and tried to start a new save. Somewhere in the first movie (when Squall retaliates against Seifer after getting cut badly - I don't know how far in it is since I've never seen the whole thing), the game crashes to desktop. Every time. Last time, a couple years ago, I found a save game file somewhere that started right at the beginning so I simply played from there, but I've spent about 10 hours looking around and this site looked the most promising, but I haven't seen anything here.
If anyone has either tech support help (I've downloaded the patches, tried both the GeForce and non-GeForce ones, updated my drivers and set the resolution to low) or a very early save game, please post here or send me a private message and I'll give you my e-mail address to send the file to.
