FF7 and the shinra mansion safe puzzle
« on: 2005-07-28 04:44:38 »
I just read a FF7 PC Tech FAQ on a website and it mentioned that the game can run too fast in some sections. This I knew already, but I would like to know all the areas that this "hyper-speed" bug happens in.

The FAQ did mention one - the shinra mansion safe puzzle. If it ran too fast, I don't think I could enter the code fast enough, and therefore I wouldn't progress.

No, the timer in that area is okay, and the safe-lock combo does go kinda fast, but it's meant to be that way.  Otherwise you'd never get to the last number in time =P

But if you're only holding down the button for a second, and it goes from 1-60 in that second, THEN you may want to turn on Vsynch

I'm guessing "VSynch" is maybe something that lowers CPU-speed?

*grunt*

It's a setting which lowers your frame-per-second to your monitors current refresh rate.  Very helpful for the motercycle race, and in other game,s it prevents wierd graphic effects from your video card telling your monitor to render over 100 frams per second when your monitor can only do 75 or 85 =)

This should all be in your graphic driver software tab after hitting the "Advanced" button under display properties =)

Ok..

*writes solution to a note, then sticks it with a thmb-tack into your head*

Don't lose it now, ok =)

I posted this solution for the bike-game like, last year, and it's still not in the FAQ.  Methinks Aaron doesn't care =)
