First off, I really can't blame you for installing the XP patch but it was a big mistake. The XP patch is a hoax, and very rarely helps with anything. Reinstall your game if you can, then update to version 1.02. Click here to download.

After doing this, try your game and I'll stick around to help you troubleshoot if we can.

You need the Riva TNT patch. Get it at http://support.eidosinteractive.com/GI/CustomerSupport/FaqSearchResults.jsp?problemType=13&searchText=&game=79&platform=3. BTW, if you are using Windows XP, you will need to install the chocobo patch found on this site. Install the TNT patch first.

I believe this belongs in game tweaking.
MOD EDIT: Yep, moved.

As for your crash...I don't know. Not familar with ATI, but the 8bit pallet Fail thing, is bypassed with that TNT patch. Just use the whole patch, and check the Nvidia box and TNT or the other one. If you're lucky it might fix it.
