FF Merchandise?
« on: 2005-09-02 23:26:01 »
Greetings.!

Do any of you know (besides eBay) where I can get some Final Fantasy merch?

I love the design of Squalls necklace in FF8, and would love to have something like that round my neck.

I live in the UK, and i've been told its nearly impossible to get one, as it's all strictly made in Japan etc.

Thanks. :P

My oldest nephew has a griever necklace, and I'm darn sure he didn't order it online from overseas. I'll ask if he knows where it came from (I think it was possibly a birthday gift or something).

Be careful with that necklace.

I've purchased both the $30 and $100 dollar one. There is a big difference.

I originally purchased the $30 one, only to find it to be a cheap rip off. Dull gray, smaller medallion, rounded tip, and the ring which connected the medallion to the necklace was forged and apart of the medallion. Two pieces. Also, the clip was a little smaller, and a little weird.

The $100 dollar one is much bigger, is a metal chain with a big metal medallion (Says silver, but its peeling off mine. Oh well, still badass, metal or silver), actually has the square copyright on the back, sharp tip, has its own seperate ring to connect the medallion to the necklace. Three pieces. Also, the clip is nice and big, very easy to adjust. The overall size of the necklace is far greater.

Also, the $100 one came with the Lionheart ring. Doesn't fit on my pinky finger, but fits great on the girl's hand. She adores the thing ever since I gave it to her. Glad someone got use of it.

I honestly do not know how much either of them are now, I purchased both atleast maybe 3, maybe 4 years ago. Even then they were a bit rare (The quality one that is).

Just a little heads up on the Lionheart necklace.

Interesting.

I have bought an FFX set before.. and this is why I don't want to use eBay.. as it's exactly like you said with the FF8 one.

Everythings got rounded edges, the metal isnt cut that well, theres dents and stuff on the sword..

The metal was dull at first, but a bit of brasso solves that.. now its almost like a mirror. :p

The ring is absolutley terrible, and the necklace..

.. Well, the necklace isnt actually that bad. It's a shame it's only one-sided and a bit on the small side.

I spent £10 on that one... but I guess I got what I paid for. :p

eBay can be good, aslong as you know what you're paying for. I think there's some kind of scam ran out of China (The ripoff Lionheart says Made From China x_x) that just makes cheap imitations of this stuff.

Just have to look out.

I ordered a pretty good version of the Griever necklace when the game was released. It's fairly good quality, but the chain broke because the pendant was too heavy for it? Anyways, I just ordered the official Square set a few days ago. Let me get some pics for everyone...

I got this set for the shipping and handling price + 2 cents. There is a liquidation going on and people just arent bidding on these things anymore so whatever price they start at is what they usually go for. Good luck to anyone trying, I'll let everyone know how the quality is once it get's here.

Oh, and this is the version I bought in what, 98, 99?

Oddly enough, thats the $30 one I got, minus the box and whatnot. The earlier one you mention is the one I have now. The metal ring which held the pendant also broke a few times, until I welded it shut. No more of that little problem.

Dude, am I buying the one you hate? Just let me know, I'm sure I can get it for a good price on E-Bay. ^^

But still, why would you hate it, it looks to be the same exact design as the one I have, save for the hole at the top, but that's just the way it was implemented. The ring will fit, I checked that out before hand. I just hate the keychain, I saw a better one but much too late I'm afraid.

I just realized something, I have no idea where I read this, I know it was here. I have an answer for whomever wanted to know why the Griever Necklace is a Jewish symbol. It's not, but the Jewish race has a very big reason to hate it. It basically has the iron cross right on it. That's probably what the man in the restaurant was referring to. I just bought a belt with like, 20 iron cross's on it and my mom told me not to wear it. I always listen to my parents so I researched it. I am not German at all, so really, I have no reason to wear it but you can read this article to understand the history of the iron cross.

http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-medals/iron_cross.htm

Tis' quite interesting, looks like I'm taking the belt back...

Yes, that is the lesser quality one. Its not the same. Its hard to see in picture (I was fooled, hell), but there's a great difference, particuilarly in the size of the medallions and the feel to them.

The one you're getting is very rounded, very dull around the edges and points. Also, its a weird dark gray, not silver. The clip is very small, almost made for children's fingers.

Like I said, if anyone wants to buy it, you can have mine, Im looking at it right now.

I'll try to take pictures of both versions side by side, if I can find a camera.

Not to defend the china one, but honestly, I was looking for a smaller one. The big one I have right now really weighs down my neck with all that metal. Having something smaller probably would be better in the long run. Clips are clips, if it's girly I'll have no problem with it (I have long nails). As I said, when it get's here I'll review it, it really only cost me 2 cents.

A note on FF Merchandise..

FF7: AC figures just got shipped into our store (Suncoast) and I bought all 3.. There was a Sephiroth, Vincent, and Tifa.. $21.99 a piece, but I get a discount thank god..

http://www.toysnjoys.com/ff7ac_figures.html

That link shows what they look like.. Our store only got 3. I immediately bought them.. along with the new series of Inuyasha figures (Sango and Miroku) ^_^

They have really great detail and the box they come in is pretty cool as well..
