problem with trying to install most patches
« on: 2005-09-06 13:25:19 »
Right.
I have the multipatch thing, which installs the hi-res and the music patch.
Installing the highres patch cancels out the music patch and vice versa!
When i download the newer highres patch it cancels it out still.
Its like i can have either 1 or the other.

How so? Remember to either mute the "SW Synth" in windows volume or select an midi-setting in FFconfig that produces no music, since if you don`t you`ll have two musics playing at the same time.

So where excactly does it go wrong in what way?

After installing the patch - i hear the psx music but the screen res hasnt changed.
I then install the hi-res patch, and the music stops playing altogether - no music at all, but high res is working.

Hm, I`ll try this myself then. I`ll get back to you in a few min.

EDIT; heh, I`m unsure if I`m even getting this to work correctly in the first place, regarding the multi-patch and the PSX-music.

Maybe you could try and manually install the PSX-music patch, that is using the "original", and not the multi-patch?

Hehe, it`s just me having many balls in the air right now. I`m trying to troubleshoot why Reunions patch isn`t working for me, and helping someone out with frame-limiting for the bike mini-game.

Once I get stuff sorted out properly and ready for my grand new playthrough, I think I should be able to perhaps help you further since I too am interested in getting all of these things to work correctly.

In the meantime; maybe someone else will pop up and figure it out for you.

Ok, I think I got it working now. Ignore the multi-patch. Here is the guide:

1. Make sure that your FF7.exe is the 1.02 version and untinkered with.
2. Install the high-res patch (latest 0.99).
3. Get the FF7Music with FF7 PSF. Follow the readme included to the detail.

This should get you FF7 in high-res and with psx-quality music.
