hey all, just got a legit copy of ff7 from a friend who had it who dont play it no more, woohoooo, so lucky. i played in on ps but my ps broke, now i get to play it again on pc (im on the pc more than consoles anyways)

anyways, i have a few questions regarding getting the best out of FF7 on the pc.

ive downloaded numerous patches, which should i install.

I would like to have PSX music and not midi's but im unsure as to whether i can have this ASWELL AS the high-res graphics ?

If so what order shall i install the patches ? I tried installing hi res using the multi-patch thing and it worked. if i tried it using the seperate stand-alone high res patch, it wouldnt, said a cr2 error ? is this cuz ive installed other patches?

i had some errors and couldnt get what i wanted, so ive uninstalled and installed again, and i will install the patches once i get feedback from you all here.

So.....

1: Fresh Install
2: Official Patch ?
3: Win XP Patch ?
4: high res patch ?
5: High Res Cloud Model Patch ?
6: Chocobo Patch ?
7: Other patch here ?

Which order shall i install them in? ive seen numerous posts here, all seem different and confusing.

Sorry to post this if its been answered before, im just a huge fan of the game, and seeing as advent children is on the horizon, id like to finish the game once more so i understand the movie better.

Thankyou kindly

Steve

ok ive just done more researching into this forum and found someone posted this:

Quote
1. Make sure that your FF7.exe is the 1.02 version and untinkered with.
2. Install the high-res patch (latest 0.99).
3. Get the FF7Music with FF7 PSF. Follow the readme included to the detail.

Will doing this, allow me to run FF7 on Windows XP, with high res graphics and PSX music and have the chocobo problem fixed ?

i think thats what im after.

I also question, what does the reunion patch do? does it make the graphics look better? if so, does anyone have any "before/after" screenies ? and also, can you make the videos look any better? theyre very pixellated. i know this is due to resolutions being stretched? but surely theres a patch available? 32bit or something?

thanks all

Steve

If you have "some" cds of your PSX version left, look here: ff7 movie enhancement

thanks dz for the help.

1 last question. after taking a look at the reunion page, i quite like the look of it. where abouts would i install this? i mean, in which order?

2. Install the high-res patch (latest 0.99).
3. Get the FF7Music with FF7 PSF. Follow the readme included to the detail.

I have that so far, where would you recommend I do the reunion?

thanks all, great site, great game, let it live forever ^^

Since it doesn't change ff7.exe at all, I'd say... Hmm... Whenever.

If I remember correctly, fice gave up on supporting 1.00 ff7.exe with his cetra (or maybe that was another patch?), so... Just use 1.02 patch and it should be fine...

ok ive installed it all, and ive got it working

when i was running to escape the bomb blast at the beginning of disk one, with the timer in the top left, the music was playing, it got to the end, and didnt play again.

how come ? does it not loop? theres an option in ff7music which says "loop music" or something, i ticked it, but it dont loop :o

also, if i install the reunion patch, will i be able to play the game without crashes? i dont want to get real far, and it crashes shortly before a save point :)

thankyou :)

AFAIK, looping doesn't work for now... But I may be wrong... Reunion patch causes crashes sometimes, but the places you may get it at are very random...

If you go into winamp (there may be another route) you can configure the plug-in to have songs play indefinetly... or at least till the game issues a STOP command (as in when it would normally end) :P

k ive got the game running, 5 hours into it, high res, psx music working

i installed reunion and it worked a treat, it looks amazing visually.

however, i got into a battle and got an error, and ff7 crashes. i uninstalled reunion by overwriting the files with the backups, and i havent had a crash since.

luckily, id just saved the game b4 the crash. so i think its safe for me not to use reunion, even though it does make the game look alot sexier.

thanks for all the help fellas :)

Use the old char.lpg on those scenes, and then later change the new one on ;) Should work.
