is there a way to revive a fallen saved file?

something really bad happen...

well my friend was having trouble with his file and i told him to send it over
and when he did it replaced my file and i dont know how to get it back. ive tried system restore and that didnt work. oh man im so mad my file was pretty good i say. had everyone lvl 3 limits and average lvls were 45 beginning of disc 2. i even took the time to get great gospel.  :weep: i miss my file.

System restore deals only with system files.. It doesnt restore for example word files that you have altered.. Atleast.. Not that I know of..

If you overwrote a file there is no way to get it back that I know of either.. Its one thing to delete a file, but overwriting it with another one means certain death.. I've never heard of a way to restore a file that has been trashed like that.

In short.. I think you're out of luck.

Several utilities exist to restore deleted files because they are not actually physically deleted but rather flagged as overwritable. In your case however, overwriting the file means that it is very unlikely you'll be seeing the file again.

Another option would be to download a range of FF7 saves  from http://www.cheatheaven.co.uk/pc-cheats-1/finalfantasy7_savegame.htm, find the one closest to your last location and use Jenova to edit the stats.
