The problem with Maya is that unless your scanning them in, humaniod heads are a b!tch to get looking realistic. I know! I took a course on Maya modeling, and one of our assignments was to create a head. The general shape is easy, but adding the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, all the funny wrinkles, the lips, folds in the eyes... *groans*
It'd be easier to make a physical clay model of the head, then scan it in and attach it to whatever body you've made for it. That's how the games and the movie was done.
If you can make a realistic head in Maya from scratch, I will truely be impressed.
Well, back to Lightwave! (I went back cause I ran into so many problems in Maya that I could fix in 5 seconds using LW.)
