...I need your help. I'm trying to compile Qhimm's .p-plug-in, but I don't have the needed SDK files...

Could anyone who has it do me a favor, zip the 'maxsdkincludes' folder and send it to me?

Thanx

- Alhexx

Might I guess this is so you can play around with his functions which try to read in A files as well as P files?

If so, I've found some info out you might want for use in Ultima.

Cool, ne? Expect me to upload some more useful stuff (like, oooh, a program and some docs?) tomorrow (well, later today, since it's past midnight).

Darkness: So you can't afford 3DS; you can't run Ultima; what's the difference?  :D

Darkness: I don't like it, too, but I'd still like to compile Qhimm's plug (only for testing)

Fice: Yo, that's really cool! I was going to implement such functions in Ultima (and I will), but first I'm trying to view textures on the models (what seems to be hard). Perhaps, when I'm able to view the textures, I'll build in a hrc-reader and animations...
(ahhhh! that's going to be a fine piece of work...)

Oh, and how 'bout that wireframe view? I'm having problems with my 2D views...
Ang how 'bout viewing the bones? Like in Milkshape, know what I mean? I'm thinking of making the bones visible throught the model.

That's all for now. Like I said, I don't think I'll be working on Ultima this week.

(But it's good to know that someone else worx on my problems   )

Yup, that's taking bone positions straight from the A files.

I'm *very* busy at the moment (we're repainting a lot of the woodwork in our house in preparation for laying new carpets) but I'll post more tonight (including uploading stuff).

Alhexx: For wireframe views in GL, try glPolygonMode command - selects whether to, erm, render in wireframe or not

I've uploaded the program so you can take a look at it   It's got a "skeleton view" in it now like Alhexx mentioned.

I'm pretty interested in this so I'm messing around with more things in this now   For example, take a look at spiffy reflective surfaces below (hmmm ... could see using that in the Remake).

1) It's definitely on my webpage
2) I don't know where to get MesaGL from, do a google search or something. I've heard it's OK though.
3) Arrrrrgh! Crashes! Is everyone SURE they're running the latest version of the Ficedula library code? I thought Ifalna didn't need it, but it got linked in by accident...

EDIT: Aha! How dare you post before me!

So the Ficedula library code DOES solve the crash? Phew!

MesaGL - I thought that had a software renderer too? I'm pretty sure it does, actually - that's why I recommended it for anyone having trouble with OpenGL (for non-game apps like Ifalna, software rendering is fine, of course).

There's model called "Ifarna" because Ifalna is the name of Aeris' mother, remember? It's called "Ifarna" because Japanese doesn't have a separate R and L sound; it's kind of the same to them. Hence Barret is sometimes "ballet" (hehe), Reno is "Leno", etc.

For those of us in the UK, the time on the post is the same time we run on...

...and there's no way I'd be asleep before midnight! In fact I'm normally up well later unless there's some reason not to be.

I've never used it myself, I just know it's got a fairly good software renderer.

Ifalna Crash: In the latest version of Fice's DLL (shared-source) the 'Ficeconsole.dll' is named 'Ficeco~1.dll'

That's why the app crashes. You've got to rename the dll into its 'real' name. I've had that problem, too, but I solved it

3DS: I still have no Max SDK...
This topic seems not to achieve its aim...

- Alhexx

- edit -
But I've got another error: when I select an animation and click on 'view model' - I get a message:
'2.966... is not a value float) or sth like that...
Fice: You know what that means?

Erm ... yes. It means your PC is really crap! It works on mine and Skillsters!

I honestly haven't got a CLUE why it doesn't work. I'll upload another version tonight with More Stuff in it that may fix it.

It just doesn't work on mine - it won't work on any comp running german plattforms (or at least windoze)

It's not my comps fault - microsoft did this!

3DSM: Are there any users out there?

Oh kami-sama - I encountered just this with the Remake translation. Alhexx was referring to that

The reason is, 2.9662 ISN'T a floating point value. Not in German, anyway. In Germany it'd be 2,9662 since they don't like using full stops for decimal separators.

Right. Now I understand that, it can be fixed. There'll be ANOTHER newer version out by the end of Tuesday. Groan.

UPDATE: Uploaded the next version now. Incredibly easy to fix of course, once I knew what the problem WAS. As an added bonus (a new version that JUST fixed one bug wasn't worthwhile) you can edit the animations in the new version. Tested BRIEFLY in-game and it seemed to work. Wai!
