Need help with FF7Music
« on: 2005-10-28 01:55:57 »
I have the new version of FF7Music (1.5.1.1) from Ficedula's site. After I set up the plugins (I have in_psf.dll for the input plugin and out_ds.dll for the output plugin), changed the paths to search for the music, fixed some playback options, and all that other stuff, the music was working just fine. Now that im hearing about all these people that can replace certain music from ones from Advent Children or different places, it makes me want to change it too. I downloaded a few mp3s so I could replace it with some of the songs. When I go to the tab, "files", and double-click the word for example, "pre", I replace it with the new mp3 that I downloaded. But when I load FF7, the music is still the regular prelude. I try other thing like deleting the "101 Prelude.minipsf" file from the folder, but for some strange reason, it stills plays it. I tried replacing it with other minipsf files, but it still plays the regular prelude. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

*sigh*

In windows, disable midi playback in your sound controls.

Sorry, I'm not really good with computers. Where do you find the sound controls? In the control panel? Where is the midi playback option?

tl2e3le4f - With windows xp, you go to your volume icon in your taskbar.  If not there, go to control panel(in classic view), sound and audio devices, and chech "place volume icon in the taskbar" under the volume tab.  Double click on volume icon in the taskbar and check mute under midi device.  If it is not shown, go to options then properties.  Check the box next to midi device on the plackback options, exit that screen and then mute the midi source.  I hope this helps  :D

Okay, thanks Otokoshi, but the only options in volume control in the playback options are volume control, wave, SW synth, front, subwoofer, center, rear, 3d depth, aux/line in 2, cd player, line in, microphone, phone line, and pc speaker. And can you explain why muting the midi device will allow me to hear the mp3s I have on FF7. Maybe I am confusing you, the music I am listening to from FF7Music is the original mp3s of FF7 but they are minipsf files. What I what is to replace those with mp3s from different songs but they are not minipsf files. How will muting the midi let me be able to hear the mp3s?

Try copying-pasting your in_mp3.dll (most likely in Winamp/Plugins) into whatever folder Ficedula.ini has your in_psf.dll listed as. I've seen that work for some people.

If you're confused with volume control, rather than turn off Midi through Windows, you can always go ingame and just mute music through the ingame options screen (a side effect is a SFX wont play, the 'heartbeat' one that should go off during the Shinra Mansion). Mp3/PSF will still play.

I always had some odd bugs with "Prelude" on my FF7PC - it was always silent regardless of any FF7Music setups (any version) - go ingame and see if other MP3 audio works elsewhere. If it's not, perhaps your directories are incorrect.

I'm using 3D SoundMax, set to XG Lite for MIDI Playback.. all I see in my 'volume setting' icon in the taskbar are : Volume Control, Wave, SW Synth, CD Player, Line In. There's no MIDI control...? o_o;;

The only way I could get FF7Music to work properly is to switch off game music during in-game (Menu-->Config). Unfortunately, in-game MIDI music is still heard after any random fights, and messes up with my mp3's music.. ~.~;;

Help, anyone?

I am running FF7 with FF7Music, but it still doesn't work and I can't figure out why. I muted the midi playback in my volume controls. It still plays the original music. For example, when I try to change the battle music to something else, it stays the same no matter what I do. I can't even change the music inside it already like battle to prelude or cosmo canyon to barret's theme! Nothing works.

Edit: Something very strange is going on, I deleted all the PSFs but the music still starts when I start FF7.
