a little help
« on: 2005-11-15 18:27:50 »
hi ther my first post sorry its a tech question.

i have read the sticky about having problems with ff7 for pc but could not find the answer i was looking for ok here goes.

i have bought ff7 for pc i heard about ther was a windows xp patch to make the game run better for xp uses so i found the patch and downloaded it everything was working great.

now i on the net it said ther was another patch  1.02 to mak FF7 play nice with your modern ATI or nVidia card and drivers. so i downloaded that and installed it.

but it says in order to run this patch you need to find two files GRU32.ZIP and glide.zip.  io carnt find these files anyware and my ff7 does not run unless i reinstall it.

also ive been looking at the forums and ive found Higher Resolution FFVIIPC [v1.00] made buy SAINT and it looks realy good.

please could someone tell me how to install these files correctly so the game will work with SAINTS patch also installed thanks a bunch.

chris.

Download official 1.02 patch here and "install" it. Then apply hires patch by TheSaiNt.

Have you downloaded the 1.02 patch from a reliable source because neither of these files are needed or even referenced AFAIK.

If i recall correctly, those are files that are used for old voodoo cards o_O

as per the 1.02 patch, just drag "ff7.exe" and "ff7config.exe" into your ff7 folder and overwrite.  Then, presto, it should work =/

the "XP patch" is a hack.. litterally.  Don't use it.  It's just a fucked up version of 1.02, jedwins chocobo patch, and a program that fucks up a file in your windos system directory or some shit. So, AVOID "the xp patch"

I think the 3dfx demo of FF7 used glide, but the final version used DirectX so anything to do with glide is unrequired.
