No FSAA and Rivatuner
« on: 2005-11-24 04:08:24 »
I was following the directions in the FAQ on how to enable FSAA with Rivatuner.  I got up to the point where I was supposed to go to the Antialiasing tab in Rivatuner but it doesn't have it.  I went under the drivers and clicked the little triangle.  Did I miss something here?

What videocard and drivers are you using? Also, an easy way to get FSAA to work is just to use the High-Resolution patch. However, you'll need a monitor that can support 1280x960 resolution for the game to play. And also, there is a CRC32 (or something like that) Checker in the Hi-res patcher, so if you're using the ultima version, the patch will not work.

Sorry, using the nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra w/ 81.94 drivers.  Didn't know if the drivers made a difference or not.  I just assumed something might of been wrong with the Rivatuner.  I tried the hi-res pack but whenever I turned on FSAA the screen and text got choppy looking.

well, each new driver release makes it less and less compatable with riva tuner, so.. you're better off downgrading to the 70's series.

But the high-res patch is also reccomended =)

OK, so I took your advice and installed the hi-res patch.  But I still can't get FSAA to work.  When I turn it on the text looks messed as well as the 2d backgrounds.  What do you have to do to get it going?

...that doesn't sound right.  Are you sure it actually patched correctly?

Mayhaps you should post in the high res patch thread about your fsaa problems.  I'm sure Saint will be better able to help troubleshoot the issue =.

I installed v1.02, then the first hi-res patch, then the 1248x1024 (or whatever patch).  Then I go into the display properties and enable FSAA.  Is that how its supposed to be done or do I need to use Rivatuner?

Well I must say I had just about given up all hope but after diggin through post after post I found that I had disable DirectX 7 8-bit deal for the game to work with FSAA.  Loving it!  Keep up the great work guys.
