crashing :(

I'm at the point where you have to dress Cloud up for the Don but after I go through the hole process at the very end when he pulls the lever and drops you down to the sewers, it switches to the Shinra HQ building and after the small scene the game fades to black and then just crashes. I'm using 1.02 patch, the Hi-Res patch, The Reunion patch, NPC patch (NonSD), Transparent Dialog hack and the Break the 9999 Limit patch (Not using the patch, I did the modifying myself). I'm using an upto-date Windows XP running it in compatability mode. This is the first major crash I'm experiencing, (the only other one I've had is sometimes leaving the automated (broken) item shop). Also if anybody could give me a link to tell me howto save anywhere it'd be appreciated. Thanks

... way too many mods for my tastes.

I suggest just using the TNT patch and see what happens.

Yea it is alot of mods but I love the way the game plays with them :) and I haven't had any problems up until this one. I'm not sure but is that scene the beginning of an FMV? hopefully it is cause I can do without watching the FMV as I've beaten the game a multitude of times although if it happens on all FMVs then I'd have to fix it. I'll post my save file could somebody tell me what scene exactly its crashing on and if you don't think it can be fixed could you get me to the next save point. Thanks
(Its the third saved game and hes already dressed as a girl)

The 9999breaker is basically completely untested, and the tranparency edit (though I can't see it causing a crash) has been around only slightly longer.

The problem is likely an older patch and a newer one not getting along, although that's completely conjecture as I can't try your save from where I am now.

Of course, there's the chance it's not a patch at all, but just one of those FMV crashes that seem to appear without specific reason.  Have you tried the fixes around here for FMV crashes?

    • A new copy of FF7 thanks to Salk. Pack (zip/rar/etc) your saved game before sending it to me.

Remove any of my patches. As Phyltre said, there was only a little testing involved before releasing them, and it could somehow screw things up. Also, at this part of the game, there is no FMV (of course if I remember correctly).

Back up your ff7.exe and use the original 1.02 version (unmodded). Get past that point, and decide if you want to revert to modded one or not :).
