Argh can't bypass the date crash in the gondola

I have done the following things, in no particular order:
Updated the codec (as specified on these boards)
Moved the movie files to HD (and pointed the registry to them of course)
Tried replacing  the movie
Tried gypt (it does nothing, it helped me past bugenhagen though)
Tried using software mode

I've been having a lot of trouble with the movies...
Gypt got me past the bugenhagen lab crash.
I got past the tiny bronco crash by replacing the jairofal.avi movie file.

Oh and if I alt+tab, I always always crash at the start of my next random battle, but not on boss battles, such as the one against palmer, weird huh?

I'm running on Windows XP professional SP1
AMD 2800+ XP
Geforce4 ti4200 with the last omega driver to support it, newer regular nvidia drivers don't add anything to it anyway, only support newer cards.
1 gig ram 400mhz

Update the graphics card, and get SP2.  Then try again =P  My system specs are almost identical to yours except from those differences.

Newer drivers don't support my card. Did you mean buy a new one?
SP2 really screws up a lot of things, so no thanks.

Maybe someone could play through it for me?

First save slot.

I really hope the other problem movies aren't as hard to bypass...

Incidentally I ran this game just fine in win98, same CDs...

Gypt has a tutorial for this particular crash which you have to follow to have it help you (it's a "little" inconvenience to make it work with non-english versions of FF7). If you don't mind, I'll check that by myself and see if it really sucked at that part...

Yeah, didn't work for me either. I'll try to correct this.
