Not Gridlines, Black (FFVII)
« on: 2005-12-18 02:46:58 »
Hi, I'm Playing FFVII PC And Was Wondering If I Could Get Some Feedback.

I Was Playing Along At A Software Rendered 640x480 And Thought To Myself, "This Can Surely Look Better." So I Did Some Research, Got The Standard Patches, 1.02, Chocobo, And Some Others, And Cranked It Up. First Thing I Notice Is The Pointer Hand Is Purply.

Doesn't Bother Me Too Much, So I Load My Game And Go. I Start In The World Map It And Looks Fabulous.

Then I Run Around And Get Into A Battle, Which Also Looks Mighty Fine, Except For The Text And GUI.

And For The Great Improvement From Software Rendering I Was Willing To Accept The Anomalies. From Here I Went Inside A Building. Crap. All I Can See Are Characters.

I Know People Have Experienced Gridlines In Interior Backgrounds But This Is Just Silly.

If Anyone Has Any Idea Why This Is Happening Or How To Fix It, I'd Be Greatly Appreciative If You Could Help Me Out.

The "NVIDIA" patch needs to be removed ( or set back to software mode ) because you do not have a compatible "NVIDIA" card.  That is your problem.

MOD EDIT: Why did you quote those pictures?  Removed.

but2002:

1. Don't quote a whole post full of pictures, we can see them fine in the original post, it just takes up a lot of room.
2. Do you even know what you're talking about?  The "NVIDIA patch" helps with other cards (newer ATI cards), and he didn't even mention what kind of video card he has.
3. Be careful.  You're not making a good impression (on the board in general).

Flattened Leaf:

Please post more information about your system.  What kind of graphics card do you have?  (And your OS?)  Were you only able to select software rendering (no Direct3D) before you applied the 1.02 patch, because 8-bit paletted textures was failing?  (Please be sure that you selected "TNT" and not "RIVA 128" if you needed the 1.02 patch to get Direct3D working.)

You're so totally psychic and can predict the specs he's gonna post.

I don't know what the details are on your problem, but "set back to software mode" is not exactly a solution.  Ideally, we should be able to get the game working with Direct3D.  If you are able to use Direct3D without the 1.02 patch, then you may not need to even use the 1.02 patch unless you want to use some other mod that requires it.

i think the 8-bit palleted textures needs to be dissabled, or forced-supported.  Try newer video drivers, or use a tweak utility like rivatuner to disable 8-bit palleted texturs in dX 7/8 games.

But we need your system specs to be certain.

but2002: As it has already been stated: how do u know that its the nvidia patch when he hasn't stated his hardware. Also similar symptoms could occur due to entiley different Problems.

But also repeating your self isn't going to get people to agree with you and it isn't going to go down well the mods.
