ShinRa Building - Modded view from top floor...
« on: 2005-12-30 17:26:55 »
hehe, what do you think of this? I got reallly bored and well, seeming as there is no real view from the 70f of the ShiRa tower, i made one my self...:o

Previously it is just black... ofc this is not a view from the game... and is actually New York! But it sure would be nice to have it...

I know it needs a bit more editing... but it's pretty sweet? no?

Redone to be night time; More Midgar like...

Note: i had to remove that visor thing on the desk cos i couldn't get it to look correct...

Heh, I thought that they were black because that was a drawback of their bullet-proofness :P. If you want, I can host that image, so it will be displayed correctly.

Hang on a second, let me get this straight does that acually look like that in game? Because thats pretty cool.

There is one other thing that no ones mentioned thats wrong with it, its night time in the game so why is the picture of new york in the day time?

i agree

nighttime take of nyc would be be less of a deviance from the original ff7 storyline and would be a better looking view

yeah it was just a boredom buster this was, but i feel determined to get it perfect. Hmm.. isn't it always night in Midgar? :P Anyway, ill get on to putting the night time view on. And hey, can be put into flevel.lgp with no probs? what i mean is it would work fine in-game?

Edit:

Here it is... I might change the view a little, just its not right, surely the 70f isnt that high :P, anyway Night Time...

I think there is no program yet that allows you to reinsert images in levels. I was thinking about making one someday. But i must admit that, if you can't change the resolution of the backgrounds, it would be pertty useless.

MIND You, there are not any buildings close to the size of shinra HQs, and also there are no sky rise buildings, they are all smaller houses.

Nice idea though

Doesn't saints hi res patch strech the images, why not just leave the images unstreched and generate bigger/higher res ones?

That's a good question smithie. I'd like to see what happens if you turn off pixel doubling (or quadrupling, in the case of Saint's patch)

I assume The Saint's Patch forces FF7 to draw to 1200x1024,
FF7 draws the pictures to fill the screen, I would just put in a higher resolution backdrop and see what the outcome is.

Well if you do you need to find the center of the image of the original and 'recenter' it so to speak.  Each tile in the image has a location relative to that center.  I don't believe you can really make a higher resolution background without changing the engine itself first considering how it renders things.
