Stuck submarine.
« on: 2006-05-10 21:19:05 »
I originally posted this at the Gamefaqs forums for help.

Quote
I'm replaying FF7 on the PC. I'm on the third disc and haven't beaten Emerald Weapon yet. I went to fight him but when I entered my submarine half of it was stuck in the ground surrounded the port (by Junon). I can only move it in circles but can't move it out of the port. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to fix this. I was thinking along the lines of a hack that gives you the submarine in a certain port so when I start the game the sub is in a different port and I can just fly to that one and it'll be loose. I really want to fight Emerald Weapon before I finish the game so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Someone suggested I post here for help and see if someone here could tweak the save game and move the sub. I'll find and upload the save now and upload it.

hi there

I tried your save game and ... well I noticed that your submarine work fine with the 2th save and well .. I think the best way will be to restart from your 2th game ... anyway you have like 2 or 3 lvl of less so I don't think it will be too long ... because it's look like a save game problem ... and well I don't know if it can be fixed .. but as I said it work fine with your other save so I think you should restart from there

I will try restarting from that save if there's no alternative, but I want to hold out to see if anyone here can help me. The problem is with my chocobo colection, I have a green and a blue ready for breeding on the first save but on the second I only have two plain chocobos. It's a pain enough to catch and breed them already, I don't want to redo it.

I don't want to break your hope but I don't think that it's possible ... that's a bug in your save game .. unless someone know how to chang the position of the submarine in the save file but I don't think it will be possible... but still I wish you to have a better reply than mine lol

good lock!!

I found this bug about 2 years ago. It's fairly easy to reproduce too.

I see .... so I think there is no way to fix it ... it kinda a bug in the game and you saved while the bug occured .... so ... well ... don't think there is a way to fix it ... I think you'd be better to restart from the 2nd saved instead of waiting here .. 'cause I think mIXu is the best person to help you since he has done all these screenshot and test... so unless he found a why with all these test I don't think there is any... but if mIXu found a why to fix it could you tell us ??

kinda off topic but...

you can get to the materia cave to the east of the chocobo ranch with a normal chocobo and the airship.
there is a cliff leading up to the cave where you would require a gold chocobo to get down (or an ocean chocobo to get around)
if you have the airship hovering above the cliff over grass you can press the land button, then hold switch and "strafe" the airship towards the cliff (to the left i think works)
you end up landing right on the edge and you come out of the airship on your chocobo down the bottom of the cliff.
then u can just dismount and run up to the cave and get the materia.
problem i had when i went to get back on the chocobo i could'nt, i could get back on the airship though...
I had a chocobo sitting out on that island for the remainder of disc 2, i finally went back and rescued him with a gold chocobo on disc 3 :D

Which patch was it? :P

There are some issues, and it'll take some time to complete it. Also, making it compatible with non-english versions of FF7 will be a pain in the... Will be difficult.

take your time of course, I understand your desire for completion (i did'nt want to keep releasing advent avatars, just wanted to figure it out and get it right then release it)
Just thinking about FF7 when all the developments on this forum are finished gets me excited!
