I finally got final fantasy 7 to run on windows xp... But it runs with alot of

glitches.

Movies are off framed, like the intro in eidos is off frame and so is every other movie that plays for it.
But its playable other than that. But the problem is is that it is at the lowest resolution and looks like complete ass-sh*t. It would be nice if eidos wasn't such a dipsh*t company and would release a patch for windows xp, so i don't have to keep f***ing with final fantasy 7. And no I tried the high resolution pack and it doesn't even work with it... This is really ashame since its no fun playing final fantasy with off framed movies(not upsidedown, these movies are off to the side and look odd, its not the upside down problem, i know how to fix that problem) And low res on my gaming computer.

It really pisses me off because I wanted to use the high resolution patch on this game but now I can't because of the compatibility problems with windows xp. I want to know how the f*** you guys can run this so smooth on windows xp, but I can't. Like this is ridiculous, eidos is a crap company and I'm never buying a product from them ever again. Luckily they make crap games that I don't really have any intrest towards like hitman series which was ass in my opinion.

Hundreds of people have the same exact problems as you, and none of them cuss and complain quite like you do.

Have you tried updating (or rather, outdating) your codecs? Installing the included codecs with the game *may* solve your problem. A lot of people have also tried different codec packs with different results; maybe they'll post what they've done here.

As for your resolution problem, does your monitor and video card support either 1280x960 or 1280x1024 resolution modes? Unless it's truly junk, it'll support one or the other.

I have two computers that I play this game on: a PIII 500MHz GeForce FX5200 (128MB VRAM) 384MB RAM (my own computer) and an Athlon 2.04 GHz 512 MB RAM and some nice GeForce card with 128MB VRAM. Both computers run the game spectacularly in all aspects.

From what I've translated through what you've said, you may not have tried putting the Final Fantasy VII executable in Windows  98 compatibility. Try that, too.

Don't blame eidos for makinga crappy game; blame them fro making a crappy PORT.

And besides, the PC version was released like, 6 years or more ago, abck when AGP was just getting started; you can't expect any game from back tehn to look or run good on a modern machine.

When using the high-res patch, make sure you check the TNT mode box in ff7config (yes, run that program first before trying to play the game to set your settings)).

And what do you mean, incompatable?  What exactly is wrong?
