Replacing Textures in Emulation
« on: 2006-06-14 05:42:32 »
I've found that certain Nintendo 64 emulators are able to replace in-game textures with high resolution ones.  You can read about it here.  http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=26229

My question is, why has no one done this for PSX emulators? And if possible, maybe we could begin working on it?

I believe all of Pete's 3D plug-ins for ePSXe allow you to apply 2xSaI filtering to the textures.
This may not be loading your own high-res textures, but it does make them look nicer in many cases.

Thanks for responding.  Yes, I know of th 2xSaI filtering.  But I'm just curious as to why this hasn't been done to PSX emulators.  I'm going to ask the guy that created the plugin if he could make one for epsxe

Rice barely has time to keep his N64 plugin up to date as far as I can tell. Besides, N64 and PSX are different enough that he'd have to learn something entirely different.
