FF7PC Demos...
« on: 2001-10-11 03:24:00 »
Anyone know how many FF7PC demos there are out there?
Links to where I can get them would also be nice.
Actually, I want to find out if more debug information was left in the demos.

Oh, deja vu strikes again

I remember this topic popping up quite a while back ... in fact, I believe it may even have been you who posted in last time, SaiNt  I guess given enough time, most of the topics are gonna repeat....

And no, I don't have any of the demos

Actually, I did remember this while I made the post.
I tried looking for the old post but to no avail.
Just to let you guys know, I found the second demo for FFVIIPC (9MB Version)
Just so you know, it's exactly what I expected, the team left more debug information in it. According to what I've seen so far, there is a possibility that the EXE even accepts cmdline tags, though I'm not particularly sure yet.
What is more surprising, is that the exe is fairly complete. Though the demo doesn't have any AVI's, most of the AVI references are built into the EXE. References to all .TIM files are in the EXE though all you use is Cloud.

What I did find interesting is that maybe i'll be easier to track changes down since the lgp files included are very much smaller.

I intend to hunt down the 50+MB Voodoo version, since it was released earlier than this one. The team *could* have accidentally left more information in it. I'm hoping they've forgotten to take something out.

Goodness, according to this site, there has been a 120MB version circulating on the web before, the official Voodoo version was out.
I suppose this version will be even more difficult to find.

BTW, fice I need to get the APP.LOG to show me the debug information. What did you do again?

The easy way is to download Cetra from my site and get it to set up debug output for you

I think I have the 50+ megs FFVIIPC demo voodoo version.  I have it in a CD with other demo games.  It's when you go through North Corel and to the Gold saucer, but it ends in the part where they board the trollie in N.Corel.  I think is the voodoo version, because when I installed it in my dad's computer, it told me that I needed a voodoo graphics accelerator.  I'll try to check it later, since I'm in school right now.  If it is, tell me what you want me to do, I have a streamload account but it's limited to 50 megs.

After 5 long hours, I finally have both versions.
Now I have the 50.7MB version & the 8.94MB version

Jari, do tell me if the 53.2MB version is any different, I can't afford to accidentally d/l 53.2MB's of the same file.

Surprisingly the 3DFx version runs on my Geforce, albeit the text & backgrounds being all messed up. 3D wise it all works fine.

Well,  I guess you don't need the demos anymore, but yeap, I have the demo that is 50+megs and that it requires a 3D accelerator based on the Voodoo graphics chipset.  I have like 4 CDs with game demos and all 4 have FFVII demo in it.
