My first model
« on: 2006-07-16 06:17:01 »
I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm not releasing this yet, if ever. It was more to just see if I could figure out how to make a custom battle model for FF7. I'm going to complete it regardless though. I got some more tweaking to do, like the legs don't match the skin tone of the head, but I figured I would at least show off some screens of it. The model is a model of me FF7-style.

Yup, he has glasses on. Here's the list of the programs I used (All available throughout the forums with the exception of photoshop and my hex editor)

LGPtools - Extracting battle.lgp and making a custom .tex file
Bitrun v0.87b2 - Viewing models and converting TEX -> BMP
Kimera v6 - Editing .p files
Photoshop 7 - Making a custom eye texture
Transhexlation - Hex Editor

The model is still only a mixture of different parts from other characters, the biggest edit was the head. I made the head by taking Cloud's head and removing about 60% of his hair, and then closing up the giant hole it left. I might go back somtime and try to get rid of Cid's upper body parts that I used and replace them with parts to make a t-shirt instead. I more or less just want to do something where one of my sleeves is rolled up so I can do another custom texture for a tattoo. Another change that needs to be made is that the gloves need to be red to match the drumming gloves I wear.

**EDIT**
Here's the model after I tweaked the colors a bit to look better:

Nice Sephy sword... :-)

How long did it take you to do this?

It actually only took me like two days seeing how I used myself as the reference. I already knew how to make it look and how to dress it, after that it was just a matter of switching around body parts and modifying them a little. It's super easy to give Cloud the Masamune, all you do is switch rtck.p with sack.p and that will replace the Buster Sword with the Masamune. Now I might either continue to work on this model (Give it a white t-shirt with a rolled up sleeve to show off a tattoo) or I might work on making a model of Cloud with his Advent Children costume.

or you could do a sephiroth so all these people will stop asking.
But AC cloud seems sweet.

Can we expect a tutorial?

What with Reunion's newfound ability, it seems, to "import" .p files, you may not even need to put yourself out for an AC Cloud model; we'll just be able to import it.

A tutorial would be great.  :-D Reunion's new program to import .p files' cool, but... what if you want a Django model from Boktai (just an example)  :-o ?? Import the models'd be great, but if we don't have the model we want it's useless  :| (That's just my opinion BTW)

Wow a flurry of replies, let me try to tackle them one by one here.

Knives - As far as a tutorial goes Borde actually wrote a really nice one that I think you can find on this message board somewhere if you look for it.

Zero88 - Yeah it looks really promising. I'm going to have to get something like 3D Studio Max for when Reunion sort of goes public about how "importing" .p files goes

Steve Jr - Close, but actually here's what I used.
Head- Cloud
Torso and arms- Cid
Hands- Cloud
Hips/Butt- Cloud
Upper Legs- Cid
Lower Legs- Tifa
Feet- Cid

Wow, this is pretty cool. I like how you mixed and matched. I would like to see someone replace all the custom characters with their own so that you can sort of change the game. :D
