5 cds?
« on: 2006-08-18 22:04:44 »
I was just purchased a copy of FF7 for PC. When shown the actual product that was bought on ebay-- it says it contains 5 cds... is this normal?

There may have been an edition which has an extra cd with the manual on it. I own the original PC edition and the box doesn't look like the one the guy is selling so I'm not overly confident how genuine it may be.

After further investigation-- I looked through most of the seller's feedback and there were numerous people leaving positive reviews who had bought the same version of the game as me. The link I posted was from a different seller... I posted the first 5 CD version link I could find. Still can't say that I'm not worried about this, though.

What's the deal with nearly all of the copies available online being from Singapore? That sh*t confuses me.

 - Edit -

After looking even more... Info is near the bottom of the page.

Zack, you were right, the fifth CD is the game-manual. Slighty relieved to find this information. And the wait officially begins..

Have you successfully added any of the mods (particularly any from this site-- NPC, Sephiroth, High-Res, High Poly Cloud) to your version of the game, Gash?

I followed the The Great FF7 FAQ (read before posting for FF7 support!) from these boards. I applied the 1.02 Patch. The movies play off my hard drive. I added the High res patch from Cyrus XIII and also followed the RivaTuner fix for FSAA / 8-bit Paletted Texture thing.

I've been having trouble with the movies playing though (not because they run from my hard drive, they still didnt play from the CD), when i thought i'd fixed it, after playing the first cutscene, it crashed on he second cutscene (the one just after getting to the 68th floor of the Shinra building :( )

I followed some good instructions from users who posted in the above link. I was mainly having trouble with the codecs.

 - Edit -

Actually, i've been doing some testing and i've found out that the 1.02 patch is the cause of me not being able to see the cut scenes in-game.

The game has been running fine since i've been playing (i've now only just got onto the world map though and visted the first town), its only when i apply the patch that i cannot see the videos. I had the high res patch going but i'm still going to play it without it.

I bought my copy of the game off eBay, and I got a version which had a box (Similar to the ones above, but not the same), a little leaflet inside which had mimimum specs on etc, and a CD Case with 4 discs.

Someone help. I only have the PSX version of FF7 so I can't apply any of the patches. I really want a copy of the PC port but I have no access to a credit card. Does anyone know a distributer that accepts postal orders \ cheques as an alternative ? I've searched but to no avail.

1)  Happens to the best of us.

2)  No it isn't, it's about PC copies with 5 discs, and what's on the 5th.

3)  No problem at all.
