Back in the day when I frequented a certain PSP forum, it was impossible to downgrade your firmware to play homebrew games on your PSP. The first Rules thread explicitly stated that, at the time, it was impossible. But it never failed that at least five times a week a newb would ask for help downgrading their firmware.
Did that stop the newbies from asking in the forums?
