Well the fact is, I really don’t like drawing.
Just boring for me.

But a girl I know asked me to draw her.

This is the first portrait I have done in years, and since there probably won’t be another for years, I thought I would share it.
http://www.memoryhacking.com/Pictures/Panda1.jpg

She hasn’t seen it yet, but I hope she will like it.
What do you think?

I had these other ones laying aound here.
Maybe some might be interested.

Some Neon Genesis Evangelion to go with the other thread:

(Yes, I drew these from looking at posters, not from my mind.)

Some computer ones:

If you have any art to share with the world, post it here.   :-D

L.Spiro: Whoa, that's an awesome portrait!

As for me, I do not draw at all, because I don't have that artistic feeling for that.
However, when I was at school, about 5 years ago, I have drawn a nice picture of Aya Brea. The picture was based on this image.

I think I have that drawing lying around somewhere at my parent's house, I'll take a look this weekend (if I don't forget about it), and scan and upload it next week.

Too bad you don't like drawing L.Spiro. You are very good. Hope your friend likes the picture.
I used to draw a lot when I was younger, but in the last times I haven't drawn at all and my skills are rusted.

Did you sit her down for the duration of drawing the picture?
Or did you do it from a photo?

From a picture.
She still has not seen the drawing yet; it’s actually a bit of a surprise.
Well, she didn’t directly ask me to draw her.
She asked me to draw a panda, and her name is Panda, so I thought it would be a nice surprise, especially since she didn’t actually expect me to draw anything really.

Her computer borked so she can’t go online much, but next time she gets online she will see it.

Did you actually draw something to find your skills rusted?
Or do you just feel it without actually trying?
Because I think a lot of parts of art really never go away, especially the ones from your childhood.
Things such as styles may deteriorate—maybe you get worse at drawing Disney styles or anime, but in general art shouldn’t really go away.
I think you should be able to get anything back if you just draw a few pictures.

Okay, I've gotta correct myself. When browsing through my millions of sheets of paper I found some pictures I have drawn.

This is the one I talked about in my last post, the Aya Brea image (184 KB).
I also have drawn this picture of Mai Hasegawa (aka Konoko) from the game Oni (200 KB), based on this wallpaper.
And here's another nice picture, however, it was never finished (106 KB).
And you start drawing stuff like this when you have too many Luis Royo Artbooks... :P (80 KB)

What's with the rest of you guys?

Aya Brea is good.
Defined lines.

And the unfinished woman has a nice style to it.

What is everybody's weapon of choice?  Do you guys prefer to use various pencil's H, B, HB, etc.?  Or have any of you dabbled with charcoal?

To L. Spiro:
It is a shame that you don't draw more often, that work is excellent.  That is a clever little surprise for the lady, how debonair of you.

To Alhexx:
Also great work.  I notice the use of graph paper, that is closer to my style.  I did CAD for a couple of years and it made me real accurate, but at the same time I fuss with the little details too much.

To chaoscontrol:
The Bass drawing is great.  I've always liked that manga/cell-shaded style.  It doesn't attempt to mimic a realism style, but it has its own subtle details that give it depth and character nonetheless.  I think Luigi rocks!  :-D

Thank you.

I mostly used 4F, 2F, H, 3B, and 6B.

Charcoal is a bit dark, and I avoid it even when I need dark because it smears far too easily.

Speaking of which, you can preserve your art longer by spraying it with hairspray.
Just a light coating of hairspray, certainly not enough to wet the paper, but just a drizzle.

Do you speak Thai?

By the way, she has finally seen it and she said she loves it.
Then we spoke for about an hour on the phone and she called me “sweetie”.
So I might do another.

There main reason why I used graph paper is because I have drawn the images at school, usually *cough*during*cough* or between the lessons.

As for the "weapon of choice" - I can't tell you much about it, since I don't know what pencils I have been using. I think the Aya Brea image was drawn using a HB pencil, the unfinished woman was drawn with a much softer one.

This time she did not actually ask me to draw her; I drew her on my own.

I’m hoping she will like it (and also not think I am a freak for drawing her without having been asked to do so).

Panda 2

As a refresher, this is the same girl as:
Panda 1

Thank you all.

I am still drawing yet another portrait, but this time I am really putting some effort into it and it should be the best one yet.

After this next portrait I am going to change papers, so the next portrait after this one should be even better.
The new paper will be smoother and brighter, allowing me to really remove the pencil lines (I think) and give much greater contrast.

My mother has been sending me some scannings of drawings I did years and years ago when I was a kid.

I posted Above Rei and Above Rei and Asuka above.
I was about 14 or 15 at the time, and I drew a whole series of Neon Genesis Evangelion ones.
Here are two more that my mother has sent from that series:
The Gang
Asuka 3

Not the best ones in my opinion but I was just a kid.

You can also check My Gallary.

Also, update on Panda who I drew twice and is now in my avatar.
Her sister entered them both into a contest to be the new James Bond Girl.
Thousands of women entered but only 7 were chosen, and her sister and she were among those seven.
She personally invited me to see her in the competition.
I got to watch her walk around on stage in a sexy red dress.
Then the big moment came when the winner was chosen.
Everyone in the audience was talking about Panda being the winner, but finally her sister was actually chosen.
She took 2nd.
So her sister is the new James Bond Girl (I don’t know what it means but there is only one James Bond Girl and it is her sister).
After the show I met up with her.  As a promotion for the event they were also hosting the first screening of 007: Casino Royale in the world.
I didn’t know about that part until the movie was just about to start and I didn’t have any tickets, but it turned out fine; she gave me free tickets.
It was a good night.  I got to watch my friend walk around in a nice dress then be among the first to watch 007: Casino Royale, and free at that.
And congratulations to her and her sister for being the new James Bond Girl and runner up.

Hoky crap! I thought your avatar was a photo of some random J-pop girl.

Mine's a photo of Ayumi Hamasaki. I draw too, but I'm too lazy to improve my skills.....

Thank you all.
Your support is keeping me going.

I have been inspired to really put some effort into my current work so it’s taking a long time.

This is a work-in-progress shot of it.
I already wrote the description and details in my gallary so I will just link to it there instead of writing it all here.
