Flash on Wii?!
« on: 2006-11-17 07:52:34 »
Anyone know if the wii will support flash?
I know it is probably gonna get Opera but still doesnt say much about it supporting flash or not.

If it DID support flash it would be able to get a lot of flash mini games on the wii, looks fun with that controller (which probably replaced the mouse in those games).

There is a slot for SD-cards. If you'll be able to run unsigned binaries is still unknown. Games you purchase (through the virtual console stuff) will be signed so that they only run on the single Wii they were initially downloaded with.
(Actually, if you're interested, the serial interface between GameCube (and Wii) memcards and the system is very similar to the interface SD-cards use, so for example the SD-card adapter for GC is not much more than a socket. Memcards are a bit different as they have an additional "lock" circuit to make life difficult for 3rd party manufacturers.)

I'm sure Nintendo mentioned something about homebrew being used through SD cards, or it might've been Sony, not sure.. :-P

Nitendo doesn't support hombrewn officially. However, it looks like they left some heavy security hole: you can use the old AR+SD trick to load GC hombrewn (and that include a nice set of emulators, making the Virtual Console quiet useless :-P)
