Die boredom, DIE!!!!
« on: 2006-12-05 14:33:37 »
Pfff, I'm doing this internship now at this company as IT-Specialist.
The thing is, all I do is sit behin this comp all day and maybe (on a lucky day) I can install windows on someone comp or whatever. (yay for me.......)

Well actually out of boredom I'm upgrading everyones comp. (boss is paying so whatever)
luckilly they dont know I dont need a 7950 for photoshop but makes my life here a bit easier.

Anyway, the question:

What the fuck do people do on a boring day stuck in the office?!

work

:P

dont really work, but if you can, looking out of the window is a therapeutic experience. Otherwise find a fly and stare at it for a few hours

Chances are pretty good that they monitor your actions on the computer, so playing PC games or emulators is out of the question. If you think you're pretty good at being funny, you could bring some blank paper with you every day and draw comics. Another thing you could do is bring a handheld system such as a DS, because if you hear footsteps it's really easy to close it into sleep mode and pocket it (You can leave the stylus on your desk, as it is a generally inconspicuous looking accessory.) If you're really concerned about getting caught, get a TI-89 Titanium and install some games on it, because it always looks like a calculator even when you're not using it as one, and is even easier to hide than a DS because you can just leave it on your desk.

Of course, you could just push staple after staple out of your stapler and then fold them together to make art.

Well, I'm the only one on the office who is the IT-guy now. The main branche people only come every 3 months which doesnt even happen this internship (which was only for 3 months).

I played al the nice snes games etc.. on other internships I had, so it isn't really an option.

And instead of drawing comics I just go download Berserk manga and read that all day (I abandoned it a few years ago at Volume 17 but now they're at 31 so I better catch up a bit.... or much :P)

The thing I entertained myself with today was taking away people rights and put in some nasty policies, they come whine to me, I told em to reboot (while I changed it back) and they came and thanked me for the wise teachings. (I really just wanted them to learn the most problems are fixed with a reboot, I have to go to people to fucking reboot their systems :S)

Pfff, the day's over though and tomorrow? I'll see by then :P

Why not bring along a few applications you've been wanting to learn, and teach yourself?

For instance, I bring along my USB drive that has Game Maker on it to school, and develop games in my spare time. It's actually surprisingly powerful, and you can make some pretty cool games (I'll upload a few to show one of these days).

Have you ever wanted to learn to 3D model? Bring along Blender3D and make some simple CGIs. The more time you have, the better you'll become.
