Well, I've just bought a DVD Drive for my Comp for 179,- DM ('bout 80 US $) and I'm thinkin' bout buying a new HDD with 40 GB of Space. Sicne I got a DVD Drive I'm gonna copy movies, but this takes 'bout 8 - 10 GB ! So I need more space...

Actually Alhexx... I need to go out an get a 100 gig HD... My 30 gig HD is full... and I only have 2 full-length movies on it. (Office Space & The Fifth Element)

And I already have a Pioneer DVD burner. It's good, but the DVD Authoring software that comes with it is a total piece of crap. But it's better than nothing...

heh heh . . . nice specs.

How's that Gigabyte board been rating?

(The only experience I've had with Gigabyte boards was a cheap $50 one my shop instructor picked up at a computer show for an older computer.)

Man, I won a 100G HD at the Lan party I go to (unreal tournament deathmatch), but I had to sell it to buy a new case/mb/and processor.  Could've used it to.

I'm planning on getting a notebook, and I was looking at one for college/gaming.  I looked at the HP N5475 (1 ghz amd, 30G hd, 8 mg video card, 256 ram, 56k 10/100 nic, dvd/cdrw).  Should I go for the 30G or go for the 900 mhz with a 20G?

Obviously I can burn what I need to on cd's, but I was wondering if it was worth the extra $400 for the 30G.

I don't need no 100GB - I'm not going to save the movies on my hard disk - I just need 'bout 10GB free space to copy the movie onto CD-Rs... that's all.

most movies dont fit on cdrs, do they? that means youll have to split them, and that takes a lot of hd space and time.

yeah, most video conversions take a long time. It took me 3 1/2 hours to convert a 40 minute mpeg into one that was readable by a DVD/VCD player.

I have been copying Goldeneye last Saturday - for 9 hours!
But I was able to compress it onto 2 VCDs, so my DVD (standalone) player can read it.

I sacrifice little of quality too.
I have my mp3s stored in 160kbps. I think it is good quality/size.

My friend stores all his mp3's in 320 kbps. He says that he can hear the difference, on his soundsystem.

I suggest the Soyo Dragon as the motherboard.

Darkness: Well, it should be 'bout 130 Minutes ... but please keep in mind that I've got a 800 MHz Duron, not a 1800 ...

mirex: My pc magazine PC-Welt wrote, that there are ppl who can hear the difference - they've done a test. Yuki's father, for example, has got a high-end sound system, and I'm 100% sure he would here the difference.

Threesixty:  Yes, Soyo is always an excellent choice when it comes to motherboards.  I also like A-Bit, I-Will, and Asus.  Also, I got an EPoX EP-8KHA+ a few weeks ago, and I have to say I'm very pleased with this board so far.  EPoX's website has a good knowledge base and download sections.  So far, they seem like they're top quality motherboard manufacturers too.
