Black screen.
« on: 2007-07-06 22:07:31 »
Yesterday I found my old copy of Final Fantasy VII, and installed it. Anyway, so I went to launch it and all I got was a black screen, and then heard the eidos logo and nothing else. So I pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL, ALT+F4, windows key, hit loads of keys.. etc. it basically locked me in, so all I could do is press reset on my PC.

Then I patched upto 1.02, installed the true motion filter, chocobo patch... etc. Nothing. Screen goes black, you hear the eidos logo and nothing else...

I've got an "almost" fresh copy of XP. The CDs look fine. I tried re-installing, still same problem.
I managed to find another person with the problem by googling it, but there was no solution...

Anyone know why this is happening? and what else I can try?

Specs are as follows:
Pentium D930 @ 3GHz
Asus P5K motherboard
2GB DDR2-800 RAM
400GB SATA3GB/s
ATi X800XL 256

Latest ATi catalyst drivers, tried fiddeling with driver settings too...

Got ffdshow or any other codec pack things installed?
Have you tried switching it to software rendering in ff7config?
