Virus free version of ultima?
« on: 2008-03-31 21:27:14 »
Sorry if this has been asked before, however I just spent the last 15-20 hours waiting for my torrent of FF7 Ultima Addition to finish downloading, and when it finished it found the FF7.exe to be a worm and the file would be corrupted and unusable... So basicly what im wanting to know is if anyone could give me a valid link to a proper torrent that has been tested/used. Thank you very much in advance, I cant wait to get to play FF7 again, I havnt got to play it since i was like 14-15 lol @@..

if its needed info, im going to be running the game on win XP.

I get the same thing happen on both Ultima and the real thing (cd's, bought from amazon) and I highly doubt if a real copy would have a worm hidden away, as I have already asked this question previously.  As for the Ultima Edition, since it's a download, it is a posibility that it contains a worm, my advice, go on Amazon, E-bay etc.. see if you can find yourself a valid copy, its only about 15 quid for a split new version, and when you consider the game you'll be buying, is worth it's weight in gold imo. :-)

I looked into buying it but people are asking horribly high prices for a used copy of the game, like 50+ USD.. To me its not worth the price of a brand new game, especially when ive already played through it multiple times, i just havnt played it for years, seeing the ff7 crisis preview is all that made it click into my head to play again.

Have you tried Amazon? Maybe you'd be better off getting an old PSX copy? And I'm sure if you don't actually have a PSX you could get one realllllly cheap.  And no, maybe it's not worth quite that much, I think I'd stretch to about £25 max.  Anything more is just getting rediculous I think.
Note though, if you get the PSX version (which will probably be cheaper) you won't be able to get any of the super cool mods on here, well as far as my knowledge goes, there's no way to mod a PSX game, correct me if I'm wrong :-)

Why do these poor people always bitch?

Seriously, why don't they just... you know, get a job instead? Or sell one of their kidneys, or something?

Well I can't answer the first question, but this might help our friend out.

At these deals you can buy a legal backup copy of FF7 as well!  :-o

You used to be able to sell your left testicle for just as much, but I think they ended that offer.

Back on topic though, now that the FFVII compilation has a truly worthy addition under its belt (Crisis Core) you can probably expect to see all copies of the original game to go up.  At least until the remake is made 10 years from now.

Agreed, I withdraw my statement of checking out Amazon, on checking today, I realise the price has been bumped up to upwards of £40, as high as £80 fora USED copy of the game, seriously, classic or not, this is ridiculous.

I just spent the last 15-20 hours waiting for my torrent of FF7 Ultima Addition to finish downloading,

Final Fantasy VII - Ultima Edition is not endorsed by Qhimm!

Go buy a real copy of Final Fantasy VII PC!

Bite me... could just give me a link @@...

Oh and if your going to have that attitude, why would anyone help you?!

its a  relic anyway lol..

Just because it's a relic doesn't mean it's a great game! I suggest you buy it, even if it's $50+. With all the mods out there for FF7PC, you'll feel great about yourself for doing so. Trust me on that one from personal experience though I admit, I started on the Ultima Edition and after playing around with the files (even without mods and add-on patches), I got it to work perfectly, even getting it to run mods that shoot down the Ultima Edition though Ultima Edition was meant to be a placeholder until I could buy the game at a low price, which I did years ago.

However, this site does not respect Ultima Edition and it's users! Remember that!

Somehow I don't think you quite understood the point of most posts, if you think that the ridicule and mocking was just about downloading the game.

Read it again. Better luck this time.

It's not just about downloading the game. Like hell, I'm a pirate! It's just the fact this site doesn't support the Ultima Edition, it's against the forum rules and he's showing an attitude as if he owns the place.

Also, if people know he's an Ultima Edition user, he's going to get little or no respect here, better to keep that to yourself.

Though his attitude can also do that too and the fact he didn't read the forum rules is another.
