A Secret left hidden
« on: 2008-04-01 17:24:03 »
It has come to my attention that back when the game was first designed Final Fantasy 7's Sephiroth has a bigger part in the story and... an accual limit breaker.  Reason i know this, i have a friend from the other side of the world ( im in the USA) and he had one of the original copies of final fantasy 7 for ps1 so he sent it to me, up to that point i had spent 6 months cracking through ff7 on ps1.  Made codes for damn near everything, well i took a look through his version which ( let me tell you was a major pain in the ass) and noticed something unusual about it.  It seems Sephiroth did infact have a bigger role in the story that in the american release and did infact have his own limit breaker which was an awsome version of an omni slash. But was removed so i took the time to rip the cds on my computer using a program (which i wont disscuss here mainly because that would be concidered a rip) and began breaking it down.  Well after months of testing and generating i found the limit for sephiroth a few years ago and burned it to a cd ( the game files) and packed up my stuff,  Well just the other day i was going through some stuff and found my CDs.  And im sure you can guess where this is going.

Using ice's sephiroth patch and scorpious patch (sorry if i misspelt that) i am testing this out to try and give us an accual limit breaker

Im in the process right now of trying to impliment this into ff7 pc.  Had a few problems so far but its slowly comming together.  I would have some pics for you but i dont have enough time yet to take one before it crashes out.

So far i have moved a bit, working on the animation for the movements
and stances and he moves, translating the name into english ect ect.

Will post screens when im able, IF anyone else has come accross this and has already done some of this let me know, maybe we can work together.

Hopefully i can get it to work so these ppl dont have to do everything ;P.  You guys are awsome thanks for the npc projects, and ice for your work with the seph patch also everyone else who has pulled there hair out working on bringing us soemthing Square-Enix refuses to do.  (Gotta love them and hate them at the same time XD)

Supernova should definitely be one of his limit breaks.   And it should also be be a shortened version (Japanese?)

lol i would prefer the long version because it would be the perfect way to get revenge on the game for making the player wait while you slowly get swallowed whole by the sun

What kind of silly excuse is that. Oh lawdy this is sum bullshit. "YES SEPHIROTH ORIGINALLY HAD A BIGGER ROLE IN THE GAME, YES BIGGER THAN CALLING A METEOR AND BEING THE MAIN NEMESIS, HE WAS MEANT TO OVERTAKE YOUR PARTY LIKE AGENT SMITH'S THEN ALL YOUR CHARACTERS WOULD BE CALLED SEPHIROTH AND ONE BUTTON WOULD DEAL OUT A SUPER NOVA"

Fail April Fools is fail.

no offense dante66 but you kinda attacked viashino there...personally i believe that there MAY be a limit break for sephiroth, after all you do get to use him in flashback, but i wouldn't be surprised if it actually did turn out to be an april fools joke. anyway i'm just giving my two centsworth cuz i'm cool like that

It makes sense for Seph to have a limit break SOMEWHERE, I mean, yeah you control him in the flashback, maybe the original intention was indeed to give Seph a bigger role, yes bigger than summoning meteor, and being the main antagonist of the game.  I mean maybe being in you're party at the start or something along those lines....I don't know, point is, it's not too far fetched to believe Sephiroth may have a limit break hidden away somewhere, even if it's just aa SLIGHT variation on one of Clouds.
It makes sense....doesn't it?

Sephiroth DOES have a limit break....just not his own. You see he uses Vincent's ID until you meet Vincent, then he uses his own. Try putting Sephiroth in your party before and after you have met Vincent.

hmm i understand since i dont have alot of posts and that im not well known there would be doubts, and for all those who believe this is an april fools thing that is your opinion and thats all good.  But i shouldnt be flammed just because i found soemthing removed from OUR original game .  The only reason i even brought this up, and started to work on it again was mainly for ice. He made a nice sephy patch for the game and couldnt decide for the limits so i figured if i can pull it off the old japanese version and put it in ours then that would be of use not only to him but to all those who like me believe sephiroth is a bad ass.

and right now as far as the name its just a bunch of symbols atm workin on trying to translate it.  But that will be the last thing ill do because if i fail to translate it ill just rename it w/e i want lol.  So i wold appreciate a little support.  if not i cant make ya.  But dont turn ppl away who may accually be interested in this by filling my post with failed april fools crap cause personally i hate that stupid day. Thx.

Hey man, I'm not making fun or anything, I think this sounds like a good idea personally.
As I said before, I'm gonna try the whole before and after Vincent thing at some point.
If you could rip a limit break for Seph, I'd happily use it in a second.  It seems fairly believable to me, I don't think it's an April fools thing.
Also, I would think that people are a bit past April Fools day ya know, but that's just my oppinion.
Good luck with this btw :-)

and if you remember me i didn't say that i didn't believe you, i just said it wouldn't be surprising as i have never heard of this before. i really do hope you can make it work and i also hope that you can make it available to us cuz i would really like to see it. also does the animation for the attack look normal? cuz when i see him do a limit break his body gets all glitched up, and if possible can you post a picture of him using it? i would understand if you can'y but i hope it's possible

What im trying to do right now is play the japanese ps1 version up to the point where he is able to use it, make a save file and go from there.  When i get to it i will TRY to use a psx emulator and pray it will read it. If it does i will do my best to get a screeny.  If i cant , ill be using clone cd to rip it and put it on another CDso i can do it piece by piece.  Sorry i got defensive, its just im frustrated as hell that im not done yet, everytime i take a step forward i fall 3 steps back in some form. then i see my post and didnt even realize that i posted on april fools and seeing the post i just got aggrivated so my apologies.  I really want to get this to work 1. to build credit and 2. to show them im not bsing.

Hey, I don't think any of us would mind waiting a while to see something like this, and I think I can speak for everyone when I say it's awesome that you may be able to do it.  I know it's alot of hard work, well it sounds it anyway, I don't personally know, but you will definately get the kudos you're after if you can get this finished.
Good luck with it, hope it works out :-)

It helps knowing the game inside and out (playing in japanese isnt that fun) but eh its worth it, oh and to answer someones question as far as i know his animation looks fine because it was accually made for him,  My only real concern is, as someone has already mentioned vincent and sephy DO share the same coding untill u meet vincent its sephy, well if u look at his limits its Vincents BUT, when he uses THIS attack im wondering (since you cant control him) if its like a monster move programmed in because you werent ment to look at his limits  (wont let you in flash back)  so im looking into that as well because it may very well be a monster style move. God i hope not.

Hm, playing in Japanese wouldn't be that bad if you can speak it at least a bit.

And it wouldn't be as hard as say, playing Phoenix Wright in Japanese (yeah, I've tried, so far I'm up to the second case in the first game...)

Ok i hit a snag... its as i feared, its a monster type skill ( like super nova) so now i have to figure out how ima use it with a character. So if anyone has an idea feel free to let me know it.

i dont think its a random skill i think it was designed for him, (kinda like supernova is for safer) but i cant read jap.  So has anyone perfected using monster skills ( besides enemy skill materia) because if not then im stuck.  I have tryed but now it just crashes .
