Start up equipment
« on: 2008-04-14 07:34:40 »
Hi guys, i wonder if i can change properly the basic equipment at the beginning of the game or which a char uses when he joins you for the first time. Is the right section Kernel4 under character record? O-o Because i changed it but all seems to stay normal O_O

Not sure on that one, but couldn't you use Jenova or something just to save-game edit your other equipment in?

I'm pretty sure that the kernel.bin weapon modifications aren't overwritten when starting a new game. At least, not for Cloud.

I dont need to modify a weapon. I just need to change the weapon equipped at the start of the game. That's all! :)

That's what I said. Whatever you equip Cloud with, stays that way.

What he's saying is when the game starts, the weapon you edited in as the beginning equip will not reset to the buster sword if you modify the kernel.bin

If you haven't found out, it's done in kernel.bin4. And It has an exact same format as the savemap. Link!

No no i found out that, but 0x54 from Cloud jumped to 0x70 by 0x1C brings me to a 0xFF. But i dont know if i must put there the weapon ID. Because i cant find in Kernel6 this ID only the model ID.

I think the weapon ID is just the number of the weapon in kernel.bin5 or whatever, so buster sword would be 00 and ultima weapon would be 0f and so on.

mmm i dont thyink so. I think that equipped weapon ID and item ID are just different things. kernel5 is for item ID so i think the problem is a little different.
Anyway i was thinking, maybe i can find the right equipped weapon ID from a save file? What you think guys?

ID 00h is Buster sword 0Fh is U Weapon (i think. At leas 00h is Buster). Offset 0x1C decides the weapon for cloud in Kernel4. Look at the "Table 2: Character Record" in the link I posted. It's the table under the "Table 1: FF7 Save Slot" table. Kernel4 isn't exactly like savemap (my bad. It's only this part).

Yes you could prob figure out the right ID from a savefile.
