FF7 Remake for PS3 - Whats the deal??
« on: 2008-04-21 03:43:50 »
Well, we all know that FF7 is definately a game worth remaking,
and after seeing the Tech Demo of FF7 on the PS3 i was drooling everywhere..
I know that Square/Sony have said that it was nothing more than a tech demo blahh blahh..
I have even signed the petition for the game to be remade. i forgot where it was though,
i found the link somewhere at FF7Citadel. (google yourself)
Does anyone know any news about Square or Sony changing their mind?

Xelane, I'm pretty sure you're thinking about FF13.   At some point in recent history an interview was conducted (with Nobuo Uematsu I think) where he stated the FF7 compilation will last 20 years.  Meaning in 2017 they will "supposedly" quit making FF7 games.

There's a 85% chance they will do a remake and a 99% chance that remake will be released in 2016 or 2017.

lol at that.
no, actually not :|2016-17??
sh*t :P ther wil probably b a PS4 by then rofl.
wow that sucks..
anyway,, thanks for the info
btw,, supposedly in FF13 the main character is supposed 2 be a kind of "female version of cloud." if so, does that mean it
could be an indirect sequel, or just my desperate mind..?
EDIT: i thought FF13 was already out in Japan??
so i think (AND HOPE!) that you're right xelane, i would DIE to have to wait another 7-8 years *shoots self*

I have a theory that FF7 remake will be next big project after FF13 and according to it we'll see official confirmation about works somewhere in 2009.
They'll remake ff7 for sure. It'll be great commercial success and big money, there's no way that Square would throw off that kind of earnings.

In 2016/17? I don't want to fight about this game with my kids(which I don't have yet), no way!

It's great that in FF13 there's babe as main char, good break from gay/feminine uber heroes, but honestly I miss those times where you could on your own set the team, no main char and great story(FF6). It was pretty damn cool but is long gone now...

peteey: It would be quite interesting to see FF13 as indirect sequel/in the same universe, like FF12 was to FFT. Hundreds years after, let's say... 500 ;D

whenever they'll see the opportunity to milk out more cash out of fans, they will go for it.

advent children sucked. action was cool, but that's not what i was expecting. crisis core is too vague with really loosely knit plot and it's just too short and too simple. but that all is just to make more buzz around the original game. i didn't play the other ff7 spin-offs except for dirge of cerberus (which also sucked, being mostly an action game) but i can see the picture.

they are just playing waiting game so that more people will want to play the game and demand a remake. all ff7 pre/sequels are most likely a preparation for that.

You know they made remakes from FF1-6 for Gameboy Advance except for FF3 which came out for the DS so maybe the next remake they make will be the FFVII?
...  :-P We can only hope.

The very end of Crisis Core seemed to suggest they'd remake FFVII - either that or they're all just a big tease!

it was just to tie loose end with ff7.

still i was more interested in what happened to cloud between he parted with zack and ff7, as this part is skipped :/

The end of CC seemed very rushed to me trying to set up the continuity for FFVII - but they didn't explain things like what happens to Cisnei.

Rumor is that Cissnei is M.I.A. after she leaves in the helicopter to find Zack.  There is also speculation that she somehow died.

During the time between the end of CC and the beginning of the original I'm pretty sure Cloud is just wandering the wasteland making his way to Midgar.   He ends up at the Sector 7 train station where Tifa finds him causing his memories, Tifa's memories, and the memories of Zack's stories to start mixing together thanks to the Jenova cells in him.

He then stays at 7th Heaven for a few days/weeks recovering, until his first mission with AVALANCHE where FF7 picks up.

it just looks like it all happens in one day, and i just can't shake that feeling.

i still find it strange that cloud could wield zack's sword that easily even at neibelheim,
despite being unsuitable for soldier program.

btw. did you notice that cloud's eyes were a bit green when he sat by dying zack, and in the final scene of CC ending they're fully blue? strange, as cloud has green eyes in ff7, afaik.

btw what i do not like about those ff7 spin-off games is that they merely seem to make an impression of preparing us for some next game.

dirge seems to be merely an excuse to introduce genesis and exploit on some flashbacks from ff7.

crisis core looks like an nibelheim incident glued together with some flashbacks from ff7, and with some extra connections with before crisis and dirge (weiss and nero scene) to make things seem more consistent. there is little plot, only more mysteries and characters.

actually cloud has blue eyes....if it ever looks green then it's either a mistake or you see more green than blue

And another cash milkage from Square.

I love ff7 for the raw and heavy mood. The game was really emotional. The slums, people living day by day in polluted place with no sun. Turks, people who tried to kick your ass but didn't hate you, it was just their job. The time when the party left Midgar into unknown. First time I heard world map music. Sephiroth, Aeris(almost cried there), Vincent, Yuffie(oh, she pissed me off), Cloud, Tifa and the rest.  Memorable characters, memorable experience. Mature story and gread mood.

Unfortunately spin-offs are nothing compared to original FF7. I like them but still... There were goofs and forcefully thrown in events and characters. It's good to see more from the universe but it's nothing what I expected. Not the same level.
Crisis Core has awesome ending, really emotional, and Sephiroth + Nibelheim chapter is great. Dirge is good on the other side, awesome cutscenes, little something new about Vincent. AC was fast and furious, cool action movie but it turns it's back on something what Mr. Sakaguchi created.

Same sport, different league.
