I never listened...

...to those people complaining about how FF doesn't look good on their computers.  And now, as I load up FFVIII PC, I notice that I am havin a hard time getting it NOT TO LOOK LIKE ASS.-_-  Little lines appear around my screen at random.  Is there a fix for this?  Please?  I'm dying to play FFVIII!!!
Also, in FFVII PC, the backgrounds seem to be divided up into little squares.
Here is my setup:
WinXP Home (This all happened before I got XP, also.)
1.2GHz AMD Athlon
GeForce2 ULTRA 64mb
384mb SDRAM

sounds like a compatibiity problem with your geforce 2. have you gotten the new nVIDIA patch? if that doesn't work maybe you should look in to getting that new 128 ATI.

Ya know, I got some words of wisdom for people who still have a 3dfx card somewhere:

If you can, keep it in your system, so you can play the FF games without the troubles of the nVidia cards, and use the nVidia or ATI or whatever other faster brand of video card for the other games.

takeing from goku's idea:
keep your GF2 and go get some spiffy 32 meg PCI ATI(75$ or so) and just set the pci card as the primary card as apposed to the your AGP GF2. if you have the money i would go this route if the patches don't work.

'Course, that won't help you if you're running an OS that the games won't run on. After all, FF7 won't run fully on Win2K *or* XP; best you can hope for is to be able to play parts. I don't think you're able to play through the whole game on anything later than Win98.

yea...98 is the god OS right now. what MS REALLY needs to do is take win98 and make a better gui for it.

Good luck trying to get them to do that... For them, XP is the latest and greatest. No need for them to go back. They're probablly working on their nextgen OS right now...

As for your problems, have you tried turning off Antialiasing? I get those problems sometimes when I hate it on...
