DKS3713 announcement
« on: 2008-07-18 09:03:26 »
Quote from: [email protected]
1UP: Last week, Final Fantasy Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura said that he's hard at work adding new scenes to the FFVII: Advent Children Complete Blu-ray release. Can you give us any update on that project?

SH: You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKS3713 [taking place in Tokyo on August 2 and 3], where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance.

This doesn't say what it will be on, Advent children related, FF7 remake or Dirge of Cerberus sequel, we can only speculate at this time. Just have to wait until August the second and find out!

Personally I would go for the Advent Children complete.
What AC anouncment could shock fans is beyond me, but I want it, so the sooner the details come, the sooner the release :-P

There is a rumor saying that the original PSX FFVII will be hitting the PSN as an enhanced port before the end of this year.

Well the event is going on in Tokyo right now, and a person i talk to on msn sent me this picture:

Rearranging the letters gives you "Remake 7" could just be a coincidence, but who knows. We'll know soon anyway.

WTH!
I read all the news on FF-XIII.NET!
I am SO disappointed.
I thought maybe they would do a spontaneous announcement at the confirming that they WILL remake it, even if they haven't started it yet.
A demo....
What that a wind coming our direction? No, sorry, I'm not blown away. This wasn't the whopper I was expecting.

"no ff7 remake. ever." would be shocking enough :]

nothing shocking there, just hype building marketing speech. i'm not hoping for any ff7 remake ever. square keeps throwing spinoffs at us, all the time (take dissidia for example).

Jordie, I definetly agree with you, complete disappointment.
* AC complete will be released in Japan in March 2009 along with ff13 demo, and 2 trailers.
* EU and NA PS3 version of FFXIII most probably will be delayed to X360 release day, yeah, that was pretty shocking. 2010 anyone?
* Dissidia will be released in 2009
* Agito will be playable also on PSP - the only good news for me...
* Square has signed contract with ROEN to make and sell "official" FF13 clothes...

Square lost my support just know, not that I'm another angry fanboy, but they just get laid often lately. No shocking announcements, squeezing cash from Chrono Trigger making just a port for DS with new dungeon and touchscreen, FF13 clothes, making remake after remake, sequel after sequel but not greatly anticipated FF7.

I bet they'll remake my balls in my late 60's and squeeze cash out of it but not ff7.

the annoying thing about square is that they are kind of a "platform b*tches" - which means that they jump platforms like crazy.

their games are spread out between various consoles/devices which pretty much sucks from fan's point of view. even one series doesn't usually stick with one system (ff12 + revenant wings, or planned ff13 (ps3, psp and whatever else)).

the other annoying thing is that the company favors japanese gamers. and the fact that rest of the world serves at kind of gamma-testers. take ff12, ffx2 or kingdom hearts 1,2 - the games were reedited into improved versions, but it was the japanese gamers that got ff12 international, ffx2 international and both kh final mixes.

the thing about squaresoft is that they recently got focused more on money than anything else - i recently read that one of the higher-ups in the company said that he's worried that their games are becoming less mainstream, and only catered to people already familiar with the series. (meaning that the games are targeted towards smaller group of gamers).

Speaking about money, they're releasing... dududummmm.... FF4 SEQUEL(right on time after 17 years). For cell phones. In Japan. And probably in AU.

I was really disappointed when Revenant Wings came out on DS. I really like FF12 and I don't have nintendo's little touchy console. Playing on emulators isn't the same, especially DS.

It's all about the money, just like they sang.

Elsewhere, Anime News Network has posted an interview with Square Enix's National Manager of Merchandise, Kanji Tashiro. One of the topics discussed is FFVII:

Well, obviously Final Fantasy VII is still really popular, and while I can't speak for the entire team, to overview what Tetsuya Nomura has said in regards to the game in interviews, FFVII holds a special place in the development team's heart, so they want to revisit it as much as possible. Right now that same team is working on Final Fantasy XIII and Kingdom Hearts. Once they're done with those projects, they're probably going to revisit Final Fantasy VII. Regarding the merchandise, the characters from FFVII appear in a lot of other titles, so there are many different versions of Cloud and Sephiroth that haven't been realized as merchandise yet, so the fans can look forward to that.

...Meh.

"revisit" - a key word here.

i was thinking the same thing. specifically - endless spin-off games. and no remake.
