Basically, whenever I start a new game the beginning video plays but when it gets to the part where Cloud jumps off of the train the screen goes black; however, I can still see the text screen pop up.  I have a few saved games from when I played it on my old computer so I started those and it seemed to work fine up until when a battle began.  The music will start playing but the screen will go black and the game will crash.  I've installed the 1.02 patch, chocobo patch, and the upside down movie patch.  Also, after reading pages upon pages of forums I saw the "MGP with integrated battle swirl fix" patch, but that didn't solve the problem either.  My movies are running from my hard drive and none of the compatibility modes work.  I have no clue what to do at this point so any help is greatly appreciated  :-D.

Computer Specs:

-Windows XP Professional SP2
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+
-4 GB of ram (only 3.5 is used due to XP being 32-bit)
-nVidia GeForce 512MB 7950 GT

Have you tried using the search function at the top of the screen?

Yes I did.  In fact I've looked at every single forum that I could find that was related to my problem, but if I missed something then please let me know.  Thanks

Does anyone have any ideas?  I'm open to any suggestions because I've hit a wall.

I installed today FF7 on my notebook and I have the same problem. On my desktop PC it has no problems at all. My notebook specs are:

Intel Core2Duo T5750 @ 2Ghz.
4 GB Ram
Ati Mobility Radeon HD3650 with dedicated 512MB VRAM
Windows XP Proffesional SP3 (32 bit, it sees 3GB of RAM, another 512 are shared by default with the GPU).

EDIT: Found a fix: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=7765.0 (Missed it the first 2 times I looked). The bad thing now is I have gridlines... Huurrraayyyy!!!
