FF7 will not install on xp pro

Hello all, I just purchased FF7, original version. When I insert the install disk the install screen comes up. When I click on install, after a few seconds the screen goes back to my desktop, nothing happens.
Dell 8400 Intel Pentium 4 3.2 ghz.
2 gig ram
ATI Radeon 3650 1gb

I appreciate any advise you can give me. I would really like to get this game installed and start playing. Thanks for your help.

I found an older post that said try to install in safe mode and that worked. Thanks
