Game Bug

Hi all @ forums.qhimm.com,

Nice site,

I've been playing the PC conversion of FFVII for a few days now and have managed to get it running pretty well with all of the mods. The main bug I keep getting is the one I have posted the screeny of.

I have seen other people have the same problem, but with a black cloud and read people saying, ah it doesnt matter, just play with it. But not only does my cloud go yellow, but so does every other moving character in the game, along with my menu backgrounds. Also, other graphical glitches happen alot more often after my characters have all gone simpsons mode. As well as al the characters looking totally wrong, I also get very jerky/low framerates after the characters have changed colour, at least 4 times less fps. I'm running WXP Pro on a very fast rig, so fps isn't usually a problem in this years games @ maxd settings, let alone one from over ten years ago. Sometimes I can play for 2 or 3 hours before it happnens, but other times it will be 30 mins to an hour, and it hasnt happened in the same spot twice yet, thank gawd. (b/c I have to restart my game without saving everytime it happens)

So I have TrueMotionCodec, 1.02, HighRes@1280x1024, YAMP, HQCloud, NPC RP, FF7Music, AdventAvatars

178.13 Geforce Drivers, WXP Pro, Newest DX9

Also, If you look @ my jpeg that I attached, when using the high res patch at 1280x960 or 1280x1024 i get a big black bar at the bottom of my screen, is that normal?

Any help appreciated,

I don't knopw for sure, but I heard nVidia Graphic cards might have some issues running the game, so either try one of the fixes in the configuration file, or try rolling back your drivers.

Hi there,

Yeah I thought it could be a driver issue, I tried updating to the newest geforce drivers 180.43 from 178.13, and after that the game simply wouldnt play just with 1.02 ff7 patch.
With 178.13 I can play, but randomly I get the yellow character bug.

I have RivaTuner installed, I turned off 8-bit palletised surfaces, that didnt help.

Has anyone had a driver which stops this bug which isn't too old? I have a geforce 9 series card.

What settings (see jpeg attached) do people have the GPU settings on for best performance/stability/graphics?

I searched for drivers that were recommended for my 7th series and that led me back to 91.**  no probs then.

Suggest you doa  google search for a recommended stable driver or roll back as far as possible.

Hi there,

I play modern games too, so I dont want to go back too far, definataly not drivers that were released before my GPU (9800GTX+), which I think is after 100. I'll just try a few out like 160, 140, 120 and 100 and see how they get on. Thanks for the advice, I'll google geforce 9 series drivers for ff7, and see if theres any recommendations or topics about it.

I can't work out why 7 suffers so much with newer drivers.  I have read and seen first hand the problems that have come up with them

It is irritating.
