Hardest boss in FF7?
« on: 2009-04-01 21:01:12 »
Hey guys. Just a quetion topic:

What was the hardest boss you faced in FF7 on your first playthrough? The most obvious will probably be Sephy, but other than that?

I might have to go with Carry Armor when trying to get the Huge Materia at Junon Underwater Reactor. Holy shit, that fucker is hard to beat.

Even when pimped out I find Carry Armor hard.
Un-pimped- I always find Demon's Gate difficult too...

Don't like rapps either, if you're low level he can be a bit painful.

Ya rapps isn't very fun. I like the Sunken Gelnika though, its always fun to go level up crazy down there. weapons aer tough too, if you don't know what you are doing.

Probably Safer, unless you count optional bosses like the Midgar Zolom and the Weapons.

The first time I played FF7 I got stuck badly a few times and was ridiculously over-levelled from the Gold Saucer onwards, so most of the bosses people find hard were a walkover for me.

Since Sephiroth gets stronger when the player has characters at lv. 99, I didn't have KotR and I was used to bulldozering everything he took quite a while to beat. In fact, the first time I beat him was after I reloaded an old save and fought him when my strongest characters were at lv. 98 (perfect!); he went down easily and never gave me any trouble again.

Carry Armor was a problem for me my first time through.
as was Materia Keeper.  Trine can mess you up if you're underleveled.
Last time I played though, Helletic/Lifeform hojo actually gave my problems.  Mostly with the combo move and the status effects.

Ribbons and Hojo becomes easy free frag.

The VERY first time I played through (more than ten years ago now... sniff) I thought the hardest boss was demon's gate.

It actually scared me, I think I stopped playing for a few minutes out of fear of having to try it again. Managed it in the end, but it took me a good few tries. In memory its the longest I've ever taken to beat a FF7 boss. I think Carry Armour gave me a few problems first time round too... but now I don't know why because he's easy nowadays.

Ya I was actually about to post demon's gate, he was tough the first time. I think this last playthrough I've had, the turks seem alot easier than they used to be. But alot of fights are easier, seeing as how I never used barrier at all the first time I beat it. WTF was I thinking? lol

Yeah I was gonna say that too, the second time around I discovered Big Guard and that made the whole thing a lot easier.

Another one just came to mind.

Hell's gate, as the poster above noted, and the 2 elevator fights in shinra HQ on my first ever playthrough.

Oh yeah!

I'd forgotten about the 2 elevator fights. I had real problems with them on my first play-through too. Can't remember why though. Might'v been that they were a bit unexpected and none of my characters had materia equipped ^_^

I always have trouble with Demon's Gate. I don't know why, I could be like lvl 99 and still have trouble with him probably XD

yeah his move where he slams up against you does really high damage to all.  All of his hits just do an incredible amount of damage for that point in the game.  Big Guard makes a joke of the fight though.

The attack I found to be the problem with that boss was the one I called "the nutcracker" (where something like a nut is bounced off of the characters's head and splits open). It does about 1000 damage and I think it was the first attack I seen doing that damage first time around.

Used to kill my Aerith instantly. Evil demon...

Schizo never really gave me problems.  if you had the fire ring/armlet (Which you should have at that point i'm pretty sure) it wasn't too too bad.  I do remember one time fighting him with vincent in his L1 limit and everyone else dead.  it just kept going for like 20 minutes on autopilot XD
