That could be anything.

Have you installed the 1.02 patch?

Did you do any messing around with the game after you installed it?

It's a codec problem, the game works without aali custom driver.

update to v1.02 if you haven't already, set up aali's driver. run his regfile(vista64 if you are using Vista x64 instead of 32bit). and you should be good to go.

If you've never opened FF7, open it up so the config opens, then run aali's reg file.

I've been starting to see that error message more and more often as of late. Personally, I've only ever experienced it on two occasions: 1) at the start of a battle due to an AI script with errors in it and 2) after messing with meteor without knowing what I was doing.

I don't know why this would happen without any mods installed, though...

Maybe you should do what it says? Maybe that will make this less of a guessing game?

i believe Aali's Driver uses FFMPEG so it doesnt require codecs (if i am wrong feel free to correct me) So i am nearly 100% sure it isnt a codec problem. (FFMPEG is like a built in player that also has its own built in codecs so it doesnt use external codecs).
You should do like Aali said above and post the the APP.LOG here (or the last few lines atleast) and that should tell you what is wrong and if that doesnt help you should post the crash dump for Aali to look at.

Now tell us what you did to make your movies unplayable.

I installed cccp and disabled the truemotion in ffdshow.
The only thing that could make this possible it's a regedit change that i have done after installing windows to make the ntfs file system work better.
During the cccp install i saw that cccp had some problems so i found the regedit keys change to restore it.
ps: I noticed that with the standard driver the movies work

That's messed up man... I use to have problems regarding that. It say its missing a video codec or it can't use it somehow. One thing I did is I uninstall cccp first then FFDSHOW. ANd also unistalled FFVII. Then reinstall the FFDshow, disabled Truemotion. Installed Truemotion codec (DUCK), then installed cccp and the FFVII game. Somehow it worked out... You could try this if ya want...

to me it looks odd because eidoslogo.avi seems to be working on your system fine but whatever video your trying to play next should be using the same codec which means that their shouldnt be a problem with the truemotion codec.
so i would guess your using either reencoded movies or corrupt movies or maybe Aali's Driver is having problem with the original movies (the last one i doubt but to be honest i havent tested the original movies since 0.5 so i have no idea). you could try reencoding the movie that is suposed to play next into a different format (like Divx or Xvid) or you could try recopying it off the original CD to see if any of that helps but if it plays without Aali's Driver it proberly isnt a corrupt movie but i think its worth a try if your desperate. Also you could try a previous version of Aali's Driver to see if that fixes the problem (i myself use version 0.6.2 for its H264 support which isnt in the later versions) so you could try a older version and see what happens.

Corrupted media could cause this, if you are indeed just trying to use the original movies.

For the record, nothing you do to externals codecs, directshow or whatever you were doing will have any effect on the custom driver. It will never use any external files to play movies.

Are the internal codecs that the driver uses localized by a short name like in win95 (ex. Progra~1)?
I'll try to format and not apply any windows patch, to see i something changes.

Problem found and solved, the opening movie was the edited version with ps3 demo scenes (and maybe a not supported codec, divx i think). I restored the original file and now it works.
Can you make a list of codecs supported by aali's?

Lol i thought so. Nice to hear you got it working anyway. well its proberly faster to tell you the codecs that dont work then the ones that do (i have a list on my other PC after weeks of trying over 60 different video codecs and over 30 audio codecs) but basicly H264, Snow, DX are the video codecs that dont work (there are lots more but they are very obscure so i aint going into too much detail there are just the main ones) and also AAC and AC3 (although some AC3 codecs dont make it crash) audio makes it crash as well so stay away from that.
i recommend using Divx or Xvid or H263+ or WMV or Sorenson for video which all work fine and either MP3 or uncompressed PCM for audio.
Also a small note is that all H264 video doesnt work even if you use Apple's H264 or other variations. it is possible to get a X264 video to work if you lower the quantizer to 52 but the video quality isnt even worth talking about.
